Nothing new here. All LOI clubs have match night volunteers. Personally, I've been a volunteer in a number of roles - not just match nights - for over 12 years, although I'm sure there are people out there with a lot more service than me.

The bar is a revenue generator. It should definitely have paid staff.
I’d be more forgiving of them asking for volunteers to operate the turnstiles.
I’ve said it for many years that stewarding should be a private company, and not volunteers. Maybe with assistance from some volunteers, but the private company deal with trouble makers, searches, etc.

James O Toole who does camera work on Rte, spoke on the Press box, about the serious risks of flares in Grounds like Oriel.
Going into a new season, it shouldn't be left to volunteers.

Re: 2022 Season General Thread
One game won't define our season, but its going to be tough tomorrow night, I`m still worried about the MF, some are predicting 4th place finish for us, I can only see 5th as highest, but lets see how we fare first month or so.
If we can get to the summer break and be in decent shape, hopefully SOD will have lined up some MF reinforcements for the July window, sometimes mid season transfer can have a really positive impact to your season.
I might be doing the MF a disservice, but apart from Sloggett and Doyle, where are the ball winners, big losses in McEleneny, Patching, Murray and Stanton in central areas, but seems a lot expected of Adams, Doyle & Williams too, Benson obviously main man, but he needs work horses next to him, Ward is a play maker, Martin and Bradley, Kelly all wingers, all eyes on this central MF area, for me that's where the season will be defined on.

The goalkeeper position would also be a concern. Shepperd is inexperienced and doesn't have a big presence in goals. But he might do well
Cherrie can make the odd error ,and more of a back up.
Teams competing for the Top 4 like Bohemians, have 2 good keppers in James Talbot and Tadgh Ryan.

Noticed last night the John McCabe sponsorships on the sleeves of players jerseys has been plastered over with blackstone motors again.
I suspect there’ll be an official announcement from the club but great to see more revenue streaming in

2 losses out of 4 for the other Stephen Bradley.
Hmmm.............
League table. Set up nicely for tomorrow in Sligo. Any win sees us top on GD.
Derry City 8 pts
Shamrock Rovers 6 pts
St Patrick's Ath 6 pts
Dundalk 5 pts
Bohemians 5 pts
Shelbourne 4 pts

McEleney off the mark with Derry. Shelbourne are on 4pts not 5.

Re: 2022 Season General Thread
Fixed now thanks. I had Derry on 6 and Shels on 5 per Livescore, not realising their table wasn't picking up Derry's lead. Scrambled to fix at full time, just not both.
Looking a bit deeper at Rovers, Gannon and Towell on the bench again, only Gannon got time on the pitch.
Omochere red carded at the death for Bohs, will miss Rovers game next week.

I saw a replay of Promise’s red card. Harsh to say the least. Even the 2 FH comms said it wasn’t even a foul! 7 yellows given out in a 28 min period if the 1st half.oldfogey wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 10:05 pmFixed now thanks. I’m sick of saying it but it shows the FAIs attitude to the league when it doesn’t care about the standard of refereeing in the league. It’s at the same level every year and there should be a concerted effort by the governing body to raise the standard.
