Being totally unbiased, who would you pick as your starting eleven from the LOI in 2022, if this Perth tour goes ahead, ignoring current injuries to players.ie Hoban. Who deserves to be the manager?

They didn't fulfull the Unite the Nations tournament last year so be ironic if a team went to Australia.

You could always play the first game "Italia 90" style in the Departure Lounge of T2 while the players wait for the delayed Aer Lingus flight (sorry system rebooting again)

Maybe should try to organise a full Irish international friendly or mini tournament against other similar nations with the stipulation that only domestic based players can be picked. Could see UEFA having an issue with that though.

At the moment I wouldn't want any of our players involved in this. We have a heavy enough injury list and we could do with the recovery time for our players.

Some of the Baltic and Scandinavian Countries have a select league team, they play every year,

A player like Chris Forrester was never capped for Ireland at Senior level ,playing in something like this could be good if they got it promoted with other countries.

We had about 1.4m in bank and no debts. Presume we wouldn’t have dug too deep into this balance throughout the year?

That was prior to transfer of ownership. We also don't know how much it cost.

Huge fig lost in 2021 season though, 830k, but sure that was at the height of Mad Bill spending to beat the band, and on rubbish, plus little income from gates.

But 1.4m in the bank and no debt are the stand out figs for me, I would have thought P6 left much less, and agreed with ML80, the budget this year would have been modest, I think I heard they could go 1.5k or 2k a week for Connolly, so would suggest very few on big wages. No euro income this year though, so that will eat into reserves as gates were ok to modest, and no big cup games either.

Still, seems we are in a good financial footing, which is further (and unexpected) good news following p6 exit.

We need to get europe, or this will be 2nd year in a row with no big income.

To be fair to P6, they didn't fleece the club. They spent wildly and foolishly on average players on high wages, but suppose they were trying to live the dream. But the money seems to have been spent on the club and not taken with them.

Big "if" this but looking at the league up north, Linfield are in 6th place after 10 games and just got thrashed 4-2 by Larne. It's a long way to go in their season but if they were to miss out on Europe this season, do yous think we could maybe tempt the big man home?

Honestly would we want him back? He's two yrs older so won't be getting better. So for me it would be thanks but no thanks. Better to get younger on less money than he would be looking.

I'd say Linfield still have the mental scars of going out of Europe. But good to see other teams stepping up. A lot of money going into Larne, Glentoran,

It's a 12 team league in the north, which is strange when it's a smaller population to the Republic. Portadown look to be out of their depth, 10 defeats from 11 and 1 draw.

I'm often against getting former players in from the glory days just for the sake of it but I think Shieldsy is the exception, still believe he's a few good years left even at 31-32 and the effect he'd have on the dressing room would be massive.

A bit of stretch given that he's probably settled up there living in Bangor but you never know in football.

If David Healy was to move on at the end of the season the maybe Sheilds would think about it. Healy is manager since 2015, not much more to achieve ,but Group stage football would have been a big thing which they missed out on. They are unlikley to get back into that position next summer as it doesn't look like they will win the league

Yes that's fair Niall, I was astonished to see so much left at that time, I'd expected very little, there was a fig of 500k bandied about, plus the zero debt thing was a massive boost too.

But................we should have been dominating LOI for years after 2 EL group stages.
