Re: Players on International Duty
Probably the wrong thread but Dundalk man Jimmy Dunne called up to the international team. Great achievement for him.
Talbot from Bohs also called up, was he the one that wanted the move to Dundalk but we opted against it? If it was, crazy we didn't make a move for him

Re: Players on International Duty
P6 blocked the move for Talbot as they had Abibi lined up, seems unbelievable but I heard it was true, P6 'we know better'
As for the internationalists, seems so much better this season, these are proper players v most of the irrelevant types from last year, Sonni being no 1, did Zahibo also play for CAF ?
However Ravis was good to be fair and played some decent games for Latvia.

Re: Players on International Duty
Raivis actually played 13 full internationals while at Dundalk (a new club record, ahead of Joe Donnelly's 10 Ireland caps) including 10 WC qualifiers
Sonni played 9 times while at Dundalk, all WC qualifiers (and scored v Austria)
Zahibo played 2 friendlies for CAR
I reckon the Welsh lads must be the first underage internationals capped at Dundalk for a country outside Ireland (Im guessing we may have had a couple of Northern Ireland underage caps over the years, but none spring to mind immediately)

Re: Players on International Duty
There's quite a few LOI players in the latest U21 Squads . Neil O Riordan tweeted out the names. Pats have 2 Under 21 keepers. Joseph Anang in the England Squad and Odumosu in the Ireland Squad.
Another Welsh player in the squad, Webb from Shelbourne.
A few Scottish players.

Group leaders Switzerland obviously in a different class. Joe Adams pulled a goal back early in the second half to make it 3-1 but it ended 5-1 to the home side. All 3 Dundalk players started.

Re: Players on International Duty
With the Welsh u21 team playing the Netherlands on 11 June, it's highly likely that Sligo Rovers(A) on the same date will get postponed. Just in case anyone was planning to stay away or make a weekend of it. (I was)

Pretty sure it's postponed anyway with Ireland playing Scotland that night.

Re: Players on International Duty
I don't think we have the right to request a postponement if we're only missing non-Irish players. There seems to be a full set of LOI fixtures that weekend, unlike the previous weekend- I guess this is an unusual international week as it spans two weekends. I guess Sligo might move it to the Friday or they could just kick off as planned at 7:45- the Scotland-Ireland is at 5

I think that may have been changed for this season.

Correct. The clubs had originally decided on Irish/NI players only in the Participation Agreement. They voted for a change this year.

Re: Players on International Duty
Nathan Shepperd and Joe Adams called up for Wales u21 games against Netherlands (11 June) and Gibraltar (14 June). Unless released early, neither will return until Wednesday, with Rovers in Oriel on Friday.

So Cherrie in for the Sligo away game, Sheppard could come straight back in for Rovers. Adams also out for Sligo and less likely to walk straight into the team for the Rovers game.

Re: Players on International Duty
James R said on a podcast even Sheppard on duty is enough to ask for Sligo game to be called off, now its 2 away, I wouldnt think this game will go ahead on 11/06, Ireland also playing same day v Scot.
