Dundalk v Bohemians | League Round 15 | Fri 13 May 2022 ko 19.45
There has been absolute silence on Lewis Macari so I would be questioning whether he has actually returned to Stoke. If he has gone, then the back 4
effectively picks itself, with Animasahun and Hanratty as backup. I think Doyle will stay in midfield alongside Sloggett, with Benson probably replacing Ward. The only other debate is Adams or Bradley.
Shepperd
Bone - Gartland - Connolly - Leahy
Sloggett - Doyle
Benson
Bradley - Hoban - Kelly

This is a really important game. If we win then we're back into 3rd and it keeps the top 2 within reachable distance. Bohs form is similar enough to our own, finding it hard to turn draws into wins.

Online tickets now available. Note the restriction, you can only purchase online if you have done so for a previous match. Fifth columnists seems to be an increasing problem.

Both Dundalk and Bohemians lost good quality players over the Winter. Ross Tierney has been doing well at Motherwell, Lyons has been excellent at Shamrock Rovers, Georgie Kelly finding his feet at Rotherham but scored on his debut. Keith Buckley a loss for his leadership
Dawson Devoy has been quiet enough this season. Though hopefully that doesn't change on Friday.

One of Kenny's best traits as a manager was when the team had a bad or disappointing game he was able to raise them and get a great performance. Hopefully O'Donnell can do the same as we really need a win here, if we can continue to keep Bohs and Sligo at arms length we have an excellent chance of Europe. Home wins and away draws as a minimum would greatly help with this.Richie87 wrote: โWed May 11, 2022 1:54 pm Both Dundalk and Bohemians lost good quality players over the Winter. Sean Grant(?) is the referee tonight. Tomney has the increasingly influential role of 4th official.
Andy Boyle confirmed as suspended, although it only mentions one game.

Ward and Doyle changed the game in the second half. The passing approved hugely and the second goal was the proof. Hoban was immense throughout, as was Connolly who was my man of the match. I though Bone grew into the game particularly when he stopped trying to hit 60 yard passes.
There were negatives though. The full backs were poor again, Bradley was trying to take on players in impossible situations and kept losing possession, while Adams was anonymous.
Three great points though.

Carried on where we left off in UCD in the first half but the second half was a completely different game. Very comfortable and played some great football. Ward was excellent when he came on

Thought we were almost in pre season mode first half, it looked a long road ahead talking to fans at HT. Second half, I think most of the ball was in the carrick road end, super display and really deserved winners.
Overall a great nights work.

Connolly was passing it around like Franz Beckenbauer. He has a great range of passing for a centre back.

Missed first 20 mins of match, but from there on it appeared that Bohs are a very limited side with a cpl of decent players, Talbot, devoy, coote, burt, promise is big and strong a real handful but doubt he will be a prolific striker. How can Flores not start for them. How is Junior starting for them. He was shocking last night. Big crowd of bohs fans there, easily the biggest travelling support in oriel this season.
Thought we dominated them. Ok we got lucky with the 2 deflected goals but felt we deserved the victory. We are in the European position now, up to us to maintain it. Hoban, Connolly and sloggett were brilliant for us, Sheppard pulled off a cpl of excellent saves, especially the one in second half where he pushed it out to the side away from on rushing bohs strikers. Ward is excellent. Always felt he should have stayed with us. If we can become more consistent we have a strong chance of Europe next season. Next weekend will be a big test. Derry really need to win to maintain a title challenge.

Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.
