Dundalk v Finn Harps | League Round 25 | Fri 22 July 2022 ko 19.45
This could well turn out to be just as tricky as the previous 2 games. Granted, Derry had something to prove, so there was always likely to be something extra in their game against Harps yesterday. Nevertheless, Harps took the lead, and only conceded the winner in stoppage time. Ironically that's not our problem, it's conceding at the beginning of the game. Much as I hate being behind Derry, staying in third has to be our aim as it avoids the lottery of who wins the cup. Until you are sure of European football, you are hindered in terms of players willing to sign/extend, or the extra funds to offer. We need to press on now while Pats & Sligo are involved in Europe. Looks like McGinty will be gone shortly which can only be to our benefit we will still have 3 games to play against Sligo.
On the player front, good to see John Martin get game time with the u19s yesterday.

Hopefully we play with intensity from the start of this game as we were very lucky to be going in at halftime not losing on their last visit. If we can keep the ball moving we will make the breakthrough or wear them down enough that they'll make a mistake. This is how we won so many games by scoring late goals under Kenny and we can again under O'Donnell. Three points tonight would have us nine points ahead of Pats in fourth and fifteen ahead of Sligo in fifth with a game more played than Sligo.
I'd start with the same backline and striker as Pats game with Doyle, and Adams coming in for Ward and Bone. Move Benson back in to the middle.

Best half I've seen in a long time. Could be the end for Ollie Horgan.

I don't see Finn Harps staying up via the play offs this year. They are a shambles. Great goal by Bradley.

They were the worst side to come to Oriel in a quite a while. Reminded me of that LSL team we played in the cup last season.
Few positive notes
- We are a different team with Hoban, he was immense and deserved a goal.
- Paul Doyle was brilliant once again, heck of a signing.
- Sam Bone a very able deputy and center half
- Pete hadn't much to do but was great when called upon, especially for the save against Tourish.

Why would it be the end? He performs miracles every season with what he has.

If you look online, supporters who are usually loyal to Ollie are turning on him. Still a lot of ball to be played but I think this could be his last season if results don't pick up.niall_hearty2000 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 10:17 pmWhy would it be the end? It's hard for Harps. A part time team with a small budget and situated in the North West. They lost a few players to Shelbourne , Coyle was a good battler in midfield.
They will have a good stadium in the future though https://t.co/3OO2nKUu2F

We did exactly what I asked and played with intensity from the start but we took our foot off their throats somewhat and dropped in to cruise control. We could have scored a few more and it wouldn't have flattered us. Doyle was excellent yet again pulling the strings from midfield with Bradley and Macari running him close for man of the match for me

Watched it in LOITV. A 3-0 win is great but truth to tell I found it all boring. Was it my imagination or was there very little atmosphere?

Second half was very flat ,game was over .watever bit of atmosphere you could have, the teams walking out etc was drowned out by the PA as per usual .Wexford White wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:22 am Watched it in LOITV. As for halftime ,can anybody tell me wat the very loud ,shouting and screaming was coming from the speakers that actually made people leave the shed until the game restarted..people actually having a conversation about cutting the wires .
Can something not be done about that ,it’s shocking .I know he’s a volunteer but it’s embarrassingly bad .

It has been the case for years and no one has moved to sort the problem so why do you think someone is going to do it now? MD must have dirt on everyone in Oriel, cant explain how he has survived this long otherwise.Alanek wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:49 amSecond half was very flat ,game was over .watever bit of atmosphere you could have, the teams walking out etc was drowned out by the PA as per usual .Wexford White wrote: ↑Sat Jul 23, 2022 11:22 am Watched it in LOITV. I'm amazed no one has said it to him while leaving the ground. He must exit every game by hot air balloon.
