Interesting to hear the club are meeting with Town Planners from the council this week.

You would imagine this should have been done years ago to see what work the council would approve around Oriel.

They can speak to the council all they want (they did it years ago, Pre-Peak6), however without money, they wont be doing anything soon and the council are already in bed with Louth GAAs ground. More interesting is the potential investment mentioned in last weeks podcast ... who, how much etc. I said it a few weeks ago, Paddy Casey on the pod and few other things were screaming out that the club were trying to break something softly.

Press release in the Aviva Stadium . “ We have found a hidden gem in Dublin “. Good luck to them . Tolka will be a much better place to go , badly needed improvements to a very dilapidated stadium .

He spoke about increasing the support base and having a capacity of up to 15,000. Putting out the right notes to start with it .

Good luck to them Richie. Hull have not signed anyone yet and have released a lot of decent pro’s. The owner is as big a cowboy as Buffalo Bill but is better at selling himself!!!!

3100 at game last night (3-400 Rovers fans) meaning we have 2700 fans in Dundalk for a match vs our biggest rivals. Do we really need to improve spectator facilities now, shouldn’t we be focused on building the support base first?

I think the facilities hold us back. We could Increase away fans if they had a roof and decent facilities. Then our own fans more family orientated facilities would increase attendances
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

The question is and remains ... why should the owners invest their private money into the ground when there is little to no hope for them to get a return on their investment? If it is not paid for by public money, it makes not sense ... then the question has to be asked, why spend public money on a project that very few are interested in? If we are only getting 2700 fans to game like last night ... why should tax money be spent on improving anything. On the other hand ... if Dundalk we selling out on a weekly basis, you would have an argument to ask for funding and a lobby for politicians to do something.

Unfortunately, we are known as a football town ... the majority are Celtic, Liverpool, Man Utd ...... supporters. Only interested in Dundalk if there is a day out involved.

I know two parents, both have 2 girls under 10, wont take them to oriel due to the lack of toilets, this might sound a small thing but its really not.

Beating same drum and repeat repeat, if we had something as basic but same time as good as Pats have behind their goal, (with toilets) home end, the temp perm stand, mum or dad could sit there, have a coffee or tea or whatever, kids could move around or sit on the seats, all with limited minding.

This could be installed at the town end oriel, but the chance to do that was after 2016 (or god forbid after 2020) both group stages, but money spent in 2016 on funding player wages and 2020 on madness players signed.

It really is (both group stages) a massive opportunity lost for improvements, and before anyone asks, yes not our ground, but club still owns a lot of it apart from the actual ground pitch area, improvements could have been made and still can.

Rovers have a lobby and (have/had) friends inside the FAI. The agenda fitted into the needs of the FAI to have a ground for U21 and senior ladies teams, Rovers needed a home and SDCC were lobbied to deliver. The ground brings in money via rental income and big wigs in Dublin can puff and blow about it.

For all the TDs, Senators, councillors who claim to be Dundalk fans .... have they even ever tried to get something sorted funding wise for the club?

I'd say the wages and signing on fee for Wilfried Zahibio during the P6/ Celtic Tiger days would have covered a few things around the ground.

Only talking about this last week to a mate, the players that P6 and Bill in particular blew money on, and what a waste of hard earned 2020 euro group stage money that was on Zahibo.

Then he got injured, you couldn't make it up.
