We still have a crack at second if RVs beat Derry 2-0 and we beat Derry 2-0 yes fantasy football stuff but it is possible. We go there with absolutely no fear
Derry face an interesting choice of priorities. Russia's exclusion (their clubs entered competition at later rounds) has had a specific effect at the bottom of the food chain. While LOI league winners and placed sides - N2 & N3 - go into QR1 of their respective competitions, the cup winners go into QR2 of the Conference. Second in the league is all very well but winning the cup gives them a better chance of getting to QR3. While their players will be out to earn a starting place in the final, I would imagine a few will be keen to avoid injury.

I doubt Derry will want to go into a Cup final on the back of 2 defeats. Shelbourne beat Drogheda 6-0 so they are on a high from that

My wish list for 2022 (Please send to Stephen O'Donnell):

John Mahon hasn't been making the St. Johnstone bench recently and was rumoured to be shipped out on loan in August. Would be a great option for centre defence.
Was always impressed with Tunmise Sobowale at right back for Waterford too. Big strong physical player. His contract is up in November too.
Thomas Lonergan... for me the biggest breakout star of this year, basically keeping UCD up. Unbelievable player, would replace McMillan perfectly, and give us real firepower when Hoban is out. His contract is up as well.
Ben McCormack is another classy player who really took a big step forward under O'Donnell when he was at St. Pats- his contract is finished according to transfermarket. Evan Caffrey would be another good option at centre mid.

Would love to keep all the loan signings, but it seems unlikely. I do feel, going on the comments from himself and that Hibs seem to be trying to cut their wage bill, that Runar Hauge would be the best possible winger we could get, and after a full preseason, we would be 10+ goals winger next year.

Yeah Mahon is not getting a look in at St Johnstone. Lonergan was impressive for UCD, but suppose to be on the radar of UK clubs. A bit like Emakhu, scoring goals at 18 will get attention. But moving at the first opportunity isn't always a good thing.

Kevin Doyle was 21 when he moved to Reading. He had a solid couple of season in LOI with Pats and Cork City.
