4-3 on agg was competitive enough. Dundalk haven't been sparking this season so it could close

Both sides were in pre-season at the time so hard to judge. We weren't exactly ready to rock in the middle of January.
Magpies started back training on 5th June, and play Preston NE at their training camp in Murcia on 5th July, the week before the first leg.

Gibraltar will be the 31st league we've played against in Europe (half of those new countries coming since 2014) and it'll be the first time any League of Ireland team has played in Gibraltar. The legs being switched probably gives us a small extra advantage

Holy feck, talk about luck of the draw..... we'll be drawn against one of these in round 2
🇩🇰 AGF Aarhus
🇮🇸 KA Akureyri or 🏴 Connah’s Quay
🇸🇪 Hammarby Fotbol
🇫🇴 Vikingur or 🇦🇩 Inter Club d’Escales
🇫🇮 FC Haka or Crusaders
2 fantastic draws there, a good one and 2 stinkers

Not really luck Sean, we avoid Brugge / FC Twente / Rossenborg and Hibs (Scot) all due to our coefficient who are all on the other side.
Def need to avoid Danish mob, Swedish prob a step too far, but we should really fancy our chances v 3 other potentials, of course if we get past Gibraltar test !

My point was that we're at the mercy of luck... could be Denmark, could be Faroes/Andorra!

AGF lost to Larne last season incidentally and Hammarby's Euro record is mediocre. We'd be outsiders against either though. Both would be manageable away trips, it's a good group gor the most part in terms of travel , and certainly looks more "regionalised" than round 1

4 of the team part of Gibraltar Squad . Not sure how many were involved against Ireland but playing International would keep a few sharp.oldfogey wrote: ↑Tue Jun 20, 2023 7:46 pmBoth sides were in pre-season at the time so hard to judge. We weren't exactly ready to rock in the middle of January.

I had a look Richie, only 2 made the squad one came on as a sub (Balantine) and another (Coombes) unused sub.

We got the rub of the green again Sean.
Not wanting to tempt faith but if we did manage to get past Magpies, then R2, all of these join or will be in R3 on the seeded side, we will almost certainly be unseeded, daunting to say the least !!!!!!!
Still I suppose it would bring in valuable revenue to play in 3 rounds, but one step at a time, Magpies first !!!!

We booked our trip today, wondering for others going how most are flying.
Wed 12th - Ryanair to Gatwick, to catch the 16.35 Easy Jet to Gib.
Sat 15th - 13.15 Easy Jet to Gat, then evening flight RY to Dub.
On a side note, as always its time like these you miss Colm Crossan aka Ezekiel on here, he loved these trips, and was very helpful to us in Lux in 2011 for tickets / logistics. Sadly missed.
