It would be very hard to ever top that Niall. 800 fans in the square in Alkmaar, atmosphere unreal before during and after the game and a last minute equaliser. Beautiful city tooniall_hearty2000 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 13, 2023 7:21 pmThey are a great experience. Went to Alkmaar in 2016 what a trip.

I've been to 5 away games in Europe each a delight, haven't been away since 2016 though with family holidays etc getting in the way. Have the second half of July clear so hopefully manage something this year.

I missed Alkmaar away for reasons, gutted but way it goes, Arsenal away in 2020 would have been just magic (covid), but agree with LFS, anyone who can make it should really consider it, just nothing quite like DFC away in europe, long chats with fans, city trips, food and drink, great memories.

Larne confirmed as champions, Linfield 99% sure of Conference League. We can watch the playoffs and cup final for potential opponents.
Magpies got one of the Gibraltar spots which is good. Lots more to fall into place over the next few weeks, then a long wait for the draw!

OK, so Crusaders won the Irish Cup and qualify but almost certainly seeded in rd1 like Linfield. Ballymena would have been a better result for us. Last Irish League qualifier comes through the playoff. Cliftonville, Coleraine, Glentoran and Glenavon. All would be unseeded.
TNS completed the double, meaning 3rd place Penybont make their Euro debut. Bala, who might have been seeded lost the cup final and then lost in the Euro playoff, which is good. Newtown and Haverfordwest in the playoff final.Either of them or Penybont would be great.
Belarus football is an absolute shitshow. Looks likely Shakhtyor and Energetik will be docked points and denied Europe for March fixing, which would probably put BATE into the Champions League, seeded Dinami Minsk and an unseeded team into Conference first round, but really, who knows.
The 2 Luxembourg teams will both be seeded in rd1

In summary then Sean, if its regionalised :
From NI possible are, one of these 4 - Cliftonville, Coleraine, Glentoran and Glenavon
(would be most underwhelming to draw one of these, apart from progression hopes)
From Wales - Bala Town, Penybont, then one of Newtown or Haverfordwest.
(great chance of making R2, easy trip, not the most exciting, but would still be a good laugh going over)
Gibraltar - Magpie ?
(nice bit of sun - but those teams improving)
Lux - Not an option as both seeded like us.
Andora / Malta / San Marino - All TBC
Malta woud be nice !
Belarus - not enough info yet.
Any other potentials around our standard, how about Lithuania, not sure we have played a team there before, but we have been to Estonia and Latvia.
(found below from one of your earlier posts)
Lithuania: Hegelmann* (2, never qualified before), Panevezys* (2.5). Cup winners Kauno (4.5) skip rd1, would be a good draw in rd2.

Other likely opponents, I think, are KA and Vikingur from Iceland, another Vikingur from Faroes, Honka Espoo or Haka from Finland, one of 2 Estonian or Lithuanian qualifiers. Latvia not an option in round 1.

Wales and NI playoffs this weekend. Its Glentoran v Cliftonville up north, neither would be seeded. Likewise Newtown v Haverfordwest.
As predicted Belarus is a frigging mess. Champions Shakhtyor Soligorsk and runners-up Energetik both guilty of match fixing, docked points and kicked out of Europe. BATE now promoted to the Champions League. BATE in the cup final v Torpedo at the end of May. If Torpedo win they go straight to the second qualifying round, with 4th placed Dinamo Minsk (seeded) and debutants 5th placed Isloch (unseeded) in the first round. If BATE win the cup Dinamo skip into the second round and Torpedo (unseeded) start in the first round. (Torpedo finished 7th but 6th place FC Minsk didn't get a European licence!) Confused? Good, you should be
Now, this season 2022-23 all the Belarus clubs were barred from hosting home ties, all played their "home" games in the away country, behind closed doors. That looks most likely scenario this coming season. So Isloch or Torpedo would be a decent draw in terms of progress, if not in terms of fun international travel frolics.

Dundalk will pass 1 round based on region. The Welsh teams play part-time and are in pre-season when qualifying takes place. Northern Irish teams also participate in pre-season. They should switch to summer football to give themselves a better chance.

Glentoran qualify, thanks to ex Dundalk man Junior! Scored both in a 2-0 win over Cliftonville. Newtown lost at home to Haverfordwest who qualify for the first time in 19 years, despite finishing 7th in the league. Their ground won't be usable so it'd probably be in Aberystwyth (or Swansea or Cardiff).
