Re: 2023 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
How much major investment do Finn Harps and Sligo Rovers have? Sligo Rovers aren't relying on a sugar daddy to do all the work. They fundraise and the community gets involved. Finn Harps have had golf tournaments in London and New York among other things.

The club are 100% at fault here. If someone at the club came out and said here's the plans for the upgrades/new stadium and it's going to cost €x and we need help then we could start asking questions and pointing fingers at Louth CoCo, the FAI, Government etc.
We had €3M in the bank before selling to Peak6. Even half that would have been a decent upgrade to Oriel.

On paper it seems like a good appointment and if I dare say it not an appointment that would be made by owners with one foot out the door.BigChief wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 2:57 pm Garts announced as the new head of football operations.

All the negative merchants on here , with NO vision . That attitude is the reason Oriel is in a Time Warp. Get a grip & have some ambition . 🙄

Yes hopefully L4S, but we’ve seen these sort of appointments made before and then fall through or disappear a year or two later. As you pointed out in another post, whatever happened to that group who was supposed to work on the stadium plansLouth4sam wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 3:51 pmOn paper it seems like a good appointment and if I dare say it not an appointment that would be made by owners with one foot out the door.BigChief wrote: ↑Thu Jan 19, 2023 2:57 pm Garts announced as the new head of football operations.

Re: 2023 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
As I have said before, communication or better said the lack of it is the problem here. None of us know if the club is looking for investment, a sale ..., nor do we know if players are incoming .... etc. etc. That all leads to rumours and they lead to drama in places like this.
Appointing Brian seems a very sound appointment on many levels, lets hope this helps improve things and uses his experience to move things forward.

Garland seems to be fairly vocal on national media. Does regular slots with the various radio football shows and regularly has interviews in papers etc. Seems a good appointment and be hard to make 'disappear' within a year or so.

We must be the only club in Ireland that offloads young talented players ... it is some list. Seem to remember O´Kanes father being quoted as saying he was also not wanted pre - Peak6. Lets hope Garts has a better eye and say.

Or, and now bare with me here because this is a bit left field....
Maybe right now he's not at the required standard and won't get into the team? And another season at 19s will only hold him back.
Or we could play all the young talented lads and be at Drogheda's level?
We would all love to have a conveyor belt of young talent capable of making the step up but that's not reality.
Can't think of too many young players who have left recently that we'd have back

Then either more has to be done with Academy structure to get players up to a high level, or show some patience.
James Abankwah only played a handful of games for Pats and went to Udinese for 600 k.
With Brexit now English clubs are obviously taking more notice. Sam Curtis being eyed up for a move to UK when he turns 18.
It doesn't mean fielding 11 young players, but there should be 1 or 2 comings through every season. What's the point of an academy otherwise.
