Treacy's lack of self-awareness is jaw-dropping. Far from an innocent party amidst the P6 shitshow. A small portion almost apologetically applauded him. Next we’ll be inviting back the Hulsizer clan as well as Magilton. None of them welcome at Oriel.

Re: 2023 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
To be fair you can split P6's time into Treacy's tenure and what happened after he left when Buffalo Bill, Magilton, First 4 Players and the other vultures and bluffers got their claws in. The madness absolutely only happened after he left.
Yes there were issues when Treacy was in charge but they were mostly nearly all small potatoes and/ or the rumour mill going into overdrive over relatively nothing and the usual demands from some to know every detail of the day running of the club behind the scenes like they were entitled to it. Newsflash, we weren't and still aren't.
MT was of the if it's not broken, don't fix it mentality and as a finance/ stats man was all about the small incremental improvements that could be made, nowhere near the lunacy of blow it all up, get rinsed by all and sundry and fall out with everyone.
If the rumour he's coming back in some fashion and Martin, Garts, Skip etc. are ok with it he'd definitely add some value, particularly maybe leveraging the StatSports side of things with the owners.
On the other hand he could just be over on his holidays for a visit and all this is the usual rumour mill going into overdrive!

Ian Foster: (On the expectations level at Dundalk): "That's why you want to be involved in management. If I don't do well I'll do my shopping in Newry!"
Ian Foster: Last seen heading for Newry.

Lads need to get over this. It didn't work out and the club was sold within a season of it completely falling apart.Philistine wrote: ↑Sat Feb 18, 2023 1:00 am Treacy's lack of self-awareness is jaw-dropping. I think we would all be in a better place not to mix up a lack of competence with maliciousness.
Only should be looking forward now and making the best decisions we can. I would always welcome back to Oriel anybody who genuinely cared and enjoyed their time at the club.

Re: 2023 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
Some mad comments about MT.
He left as chairman in December 2019. He was no longer part of things when the madness started.
For someone on here to compare him to Bill Hulsizer & Jim Magilton, absolute tripe and it's no surprise what some come out with. Ignorance is bliss , but how can you blame someone that wasn't even part of things when all the madness began?
Absoulate lunacy what some come out with.
He grew an attachment to the club from his time here and in Bournemouth and wanted back to see both teams.
Mike is Always welcome in Oriel Park.

Re: 2023 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
American sports mentality is different yo European They have endless cash streams and throw endless sums of money into sport. Franchises move akin to bill wanting us to move to the Aviva. Boehly is doing the same at Chelsea only on a much bigger scale. The Americans think they can fix any problem by throwing huge sums of money at it. It's reckless foolish but not malicious. It is never in the best interests of any club for an owner to be malicious. They underestimated the league, our clubs revenue streams, the likelihood of us making group stages every season, and our horrendous infrastructure
Dundalk Fc. First Irish club to win points in group stages of a major European Competition.

United ,Arsenal and Liverpool are owned by Americans. They were all making the push for the European Superleague. Then the backlash came from supporters and they pulled out. No relegation was among the ideas of the Superleague.

Any signings today or is it still a case of MT, Bill, Peak6 and all Americans being to blame for the lack of squad numbers?

Re: 2023 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
None today but loans imminent with one rumoured to be a defensive midfielder which is absolutely not what we need.
Need cover for both left and right back + competition for the wingers.

Here is the list of squad numbers registered for the season. Although not on the list, Oisin Coleman togged out as #32. Himself and Moyo were the only two u19s in the match day squad against UCD. A bit of a surprise as I thought Senan Mullen did well at left back pre-season.

Re: 2023 Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
I could kind of understand going for a defensive midfielder. Sloggett is always one of those players that just never has the consistent impact you expect. Hopefully, Doyle adds something when he comes back.
Pretty jealous of Derry getting Ollie O'Neil in on loan. If we are really going to compete, that was the type of loan move to make. There are a couple of Irish Youth internationals stuck in reserve teams that might suit us, Alex Murphy at Newcastle, Glory Nzingo at Reim, James Abankwah, Connor Noss, sure even Val Adedokun could be an option. Wishful thinking of course.
Hauge is frozen out at Hibs. Would take him back in a heartbeat.

Yeah I could see Sloggett being dropped for Doyle if he doesn't step up this season. Doyle's a player that really excites me. All good suggestions there in terms of young hungry players that could do a job at this level. I'd have any of them, especially Runar.superman wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 10:15 amI could kind of understand going for a defensive midfielder. Its a bit late in the transfer window to be saying this, but if you could bring in an anchor man holding midfielder, it could free up Sloggett or Doyle to play in a different role. Neither are natural successors to Shields anyways and it certainly doesnt suit Sloggett who can get lost- maybe that would be the best way to get more from him.Towelie wrote: ↑Sun Feb 19, 2023 1:08 pmYeah I could see Sloggett being dropped for Doyle if he doesn't step up this season. Again , all wishful thinking. We need minimum 4 players in to make top 3.
Whats fustrating is this was the problem last year, and it hasnt been fix.
Just feels a negative energy about now too. Instead of building on getting into Europe, we have seemingly taken a step backways - not only on the pitch but off it as well.
