Derry City v Dundalk | League Round 36 | Friday 06 November 2022 ko 19.00

Post by oldfogey » Sat Oct 29, 2022 12:05 pm

So, here we are, last game of the season. How Colm, Marty, and Patsy would have enjoyed last night. When the fixture list came out my biggest fear was that we would need a result (for Europe) going to the Brandywell and have our noses rubbed in it by the "B" team. Never mind a week, 90 minutes is a long time in football.

What's the situation about travelling next week? I've a bunch of kids who want to go, but I'm talking minibus not car, and I know there were problems in the past.

So Rob Hennessy is the referee for Sunday. Neil Doyle plays Sheriff. Needn't have bothered as O'Donnell is suspended.

Probably a good game for SOD to be suspended! He seriously has to stop getting himself sent off. Anyway, weirdly low key game, I'm assuming we won't see Hoban, and last Dundalk game for a good handful of players

Wtf is he at with that squad. ... I'm all for giving departing players a final farewell and all that. However This isn't a total dead rubber. 3-0 and we are second. Tall order I know but it is a chance. But that starting 11 ffs.

Joke of a starting 11, a B - team at best. Says a lot indirectly, money must not be a problem as they can turn their noses to a few more grand for finishing second. Surely would have covered part of the fines for the flares ...

Would also be a chance to put Derry to the sword.

Suppose it comes with the mentality that we have over achieved already this season. Will be an interesting off season, will certainly tell us where the club is going. No excuses next season about too little time to put squads together etc.

The sense of entitlement on here is mind-boggling. 2nd v 3rd means f-all in terms of prize money or Europe. Fringe players have turned up to training and games week in week out and had zero/minimal game time.

And a reminder to all. Everybody has their own view of who is a good or bad player. That doesn't make any of those right. Stephen O'Donnell is the current manager and will be next season. I back him to choose the team and squad.

Sense of entitlement? By wanting to try to finish 2nd? The highest position available to us? Is that not the aim of the game?

Absolute stupidity from McCourt to get himself sent off, lucky enough Diallo was equally stupid in his reaction.

Sense of entitlement? The club and its players should be going out to win every game they play, trying to finish as high as possible.. As for lads turning up for training etc. ..... they are being well paid to do just that, it is their feckin job. Name one starter this season who didn't play at some point this season when fit and available?
With Derry playing a B Team, playing our first 11, second place would have been very manageable.

McCourt shocked that he was sent off. He's not in the ring with Tyson Fury

We are playing well. Should be two up. What a strike from Keith Ward. And it was total stupidity from McCourt. Needless. Wasn't even a bad tackle from Derry player just cut across him. Thankfully the Derry player retaliated. A second goal for us early on, could make it very very interesting.
