Would also be a chance to put Derry to the sword.
Suppose it comes with the mentality that we have over achieved already this season.
Are you suggesting that we haven't overachieved?
Not at all, however we could have very easily got second had we put out a full strength team. Regardless of the points level we will always be third in the printed table thanks to them missing 2 goals .... Derry were there for the picking last night had we put out our first 11.

Super win and a really strong finish with 2 wins, getting to 66 points and level with Derry was a fantastic achievment.

Also it was great the 3 points free gift from Sligo game didn't matter in the end as we finished 5 clear of Pats.

Some of the passing and ball retention by us last night was a joy to watch, Gartland was solid, had a great game, Alfie showed his class in MF and Ward was just superb.

McCourt wasn't good enough before last night and would love to find a way to offload him but he's under contract.

They paid a fee for McCourt but he's played very little and had a injury record before he joined.

Galway fans looking for John Caulfield out but he's under contract for another season.

Good performance and great result to end the season on a high. Nice to keep up our frankly ridiculous record against Derry, particularly at the Brandywell where I think we've lost something like one of our last 15 visits.

Gartland was outstanding but much as I love him we can't offer another contract, given his injury history and age, surely? Ward was superb again, arguably a nominee for Player of the Year.

It’s gas looking at some of the comments , before the game , the starting eleven was ridiculed & they win in the Brandywell . After the game , another says Gartland was man of the match , but we can’t offer him a contract next year . It doesn’t matter wtf we do , you still have the same few talking rubbish . How foolish do they feel , when proven wrong , every time. Supporters my boix. It’s in the dna , & the same heads have been talking the same rubbish for as long as I can remember . As Oddball said to Moriarity ( the Jonah ) in Kelly’s Heroes , “ Why don’t you say , something righteous & meaningful for a change , it’s 66 points the same as Derry . We are in Europe . Make no mistake about it , Brian Gartland will be the first one getting a contract next year , chalk it down , the man has kept himself in super nick . Cmon the Town .

I had nothing against the starting 11 but got the feeling Gartland and cherrie started as a thanks for your service gesture, I could be completely wrong though😉

Whatever the motive for their selection both had a great game. Wonderful, wonderful servants to this club who will never be forgotten.
