If we are being honest, and you can disagree all you want, but I would feel the majority of fans are either positive or neutral about flares. And most of what people don't like about them is that they cause fines for the club. Sure look at the name of this thread.

There is a balance to be had. One of the biggest draws to Dundalk and the LOI for a lot of people is the match-day atmosphere. Just look at nearly all the promotional activity for the league. Obviously, there is a line when it gets too much though, and its all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

But sanitising the league and Oriel park and creating tension with the SSA is going to damage what makes great nights in Oriel and the league special.

They are dangerous the best of times, never mind being held up by let's just say individuals a bit unsteady on their feet especially in such close proximity to the heads of people standing in front or beside them. What will happen if somebody gets burnt by them? Will the club be sued?

Yes and deservedly so. The club is aware of a problem and did nothing to resolve.

People who have unlining conditions like asthma wouldn't be comfortable with the gas from the flares. it wouldn't be healthy regardless to be inhaling in that gas.

Are you on a piss take? 69% was it of our fans clearly stated in the survey from the club that they don't want them (suppose the SSA didn't take part or were busy sourcing them that evening). The fines part is the obvious one as it costs money, however there are much more and potentially serious issues:

• They are illegal

• They can cause serious injury

• The people operating them do not know what illnesses others around them have, they can trigger asthma very quickly for example

• If a building was to catch fire the insurance companies would laugh at the club for neglecting to search for them at the entrance

• If someone gets injured and sues the club the public liability insurance will not cover it because of the above

Thats just a few obvious reasons.

Ah Pepsi sure we were told recently here by one of shedside members that we have millionaire owners!! Bottom line is all of ur above is correct. If someone gets maimed for life about from the horrendous outcome of that, the club will fold as no insurance company will pay out. Zero tolerance in unaccompanied ten yr olds isn't the solution here. They are the soft target and looks like the club are being proactive.

Superman, 69% of respondents to the clubs survey said they were against flares!
No way fans come to a game to see a couple of lighted flares that last at most 3 minutes.
FLARES ARE NOT NEEDED TO CREATE AN ATMOSPHERE

The SSA or whoever go to Tallaght every year and create a great atmosphere WITHOUT using flares.
No flares in the Premier League but still great atmospheres in Anfield, Stanford Bridge and the Eremites because fans are singing and involved in the games.
Some of the Tifos and flags and the singing in OP ( I presume created by the SSA) are brilliant and create an atmospheric match.
The end of the Pats game was great and there wasn’t any flares at full time .
BTW Superman, I’m not shouting at you above, I’m just trying to make the same point I did when I started this thread. Actually, the more I think about it the more I’m convinced that the couple of pricks costing the club money by using the flares , don’t actually care about making an ‘atmosphere’. They are only using that as a cover to show off in front of their mates and 12 yr old hangers on.

Great atmosphere last night , especially in the 2nd half. Plenty of noise from The Shed but no flares, which means no fines ( we might get fined for other things though !!!)

Very good episode of the Pressbox podcast this week where the two boys discussed flares. They must be reading OW !! Anyway they both made the points that I and most fans hold regarding the fact that the club’s money is literally being flushed down the toilet every time a flare is lit. Should be a required listen for every fan.

You can't reason with the unreasonable. The lads lighting the flares don't give two shits about the club it's all about looking cool in front of their mates. I think it was Pepsi that said it and he was spot on, if they cared about the fines they would be raising money to cover them and donating to the club.

Nope ,hate flares .dangerous and costing the club money .
As for smoke bombs ,don’t see any point in them at all .only thing they do is blind you from seeing the pitch .they serve absolutely no purpose.

Nope ,hate flares .dangerous and costing the club money .
As for smoke bombs ,don’t see any point in them at all .only thing they do is blind you from seeing the pitch .they serve absolutely no purpose.

I see the SSA are getting narky over the Pressbox podcast calling out the flares.
Big fines coming over last night’s ‘display’ in Weaver’s park., prob more than the €500 that I’ll update on the 2nd page of this thread.
