I heard Gavin McLaughlin mention that it's a very long off season in LOI. It only seems long because it's in winter. League finished in November, resumes In February.
Premier League finishes in May resumes in August.

Long is finishing in November like in Sweden and Norway and resuming in April.

Not even close....

Last league game 2022 - 06-Nov-22
First league game 2023 - 17-Feb-23 103 days
Lasr EPL game 21-2 - 22-May-22
First EPL game 22-3 - 06-Aug-22 76 days
EPL might have started a week early for the World Cup, but the off season is a almost month longer in Ireland

It's 3 weeks at most. The World Cup condensed it from resumption of next season. The 21/22 season started on the 13th of August. The Premier League has a 38 game season.plays League Cup with 2 legged Semi.
They have a longer schedule because they are fitting in more games.

The Bundesliga 21/22 season was 13th August 2021 to 14th May 2022. They don't have a second cup competition in Germany or italy.

Any thoughts on lack of fitness due to poor preseason?
I thought we looked well off the pace last night and I see John Flanagan tweeting that looks like we could do with another month of preseason! We should have played 2 more games which is even more incredible that we didn’t fulfil the Shelbourne game. 10 days between the last preseason fixture and the UCD game and it looked like it! Surely we should have squeezed a game in last wkend?

It's pretty amazing. Last year the excuses were that we struggled to sign players and had no preseason because of the delay in getting O'Donnell on board. We have absolutely no excuses now. We left it far too late to sign players and we didn't play close to enough games. Christ we even turned down a competitive game against Shelburne. We looked like a bunch of lads that never played together last night

Filippo got hammered because there wasn't enough pre season games in 21. Think it was 4 games they played including Presidents Cup, one was called off
That was more awkward start then because of covid.

Was it in training or a pre season game that Moutney got injured? He done his ACL previously at Oriel, playing with Pats.

Heard over weekend Dave Mackey was let go or contract not extended in Dec. Then Garts came in, not a direct replacement but it would be wage for wage adjustment I would think.

It seems SOD can do the euro games as he is enlisted on the pro licence, but seems very odd why no communication was posted on Mackey, a league winner with us in 91 and seemed to be thrilled when he got the new role. No one knows in the ins /outs but still don't understand why they didn't release a statement that he left and god forbid thanking him, as he got us out of a hole in 2022 with his coaching badge.

Hi Guys,

Just thought I'd post this LOI job advert on here (apologies if this is the incorrect thread).

We're currently recruiting for a Football Research Analyst who is an expert on LOI football. The role is home based, can be combined with other jobs and is a pretty good side gig (if you know and follow the league anyway). If you're interested, please apply below or DM me for more info. I'm a Harps fan myself, and it would be great to see a few Dundalk fans apply before the deadline this Thursday!

Thanks a mil,
Shane

https://www.dundalkfc.com/club-update-a ... e-tickets/

The club issued a statement yesterday on anti-social behaviour and adults using kids tickets. Unfortunately I think the wording is all wrong and effectively we're saying the solution here is to charge children more. Ok, I'm being facetious, but the main take-away here is cracking down on adults using kids tickets by limiting the number of kids tickets and trying to restrict unaccompanied kids.
