New Owners?

Post by brodser »

Heard a rumour a few weeks ago that the owners of Hull City were going to take over the club. Apparently they've been sniffing around Oriel sussing things out. Hull are owned by a Turkish millionaire called Acun Ilicali and they're bringing in their own CEO and a Financial Officer. I see Gerry Malone has tweeted about it (I know, I know). Hopefully it's true as the current owners seem to have zero interest or ambition about bringing the club forward.

Would there be a fee involved, or what even happens IF that is true?

By all accounts there’s an offer on the table last couple of weeks and they’ve also been in talks with other LOI sides. We’re probably the most attractive from investment point of view no one else has European football. My guess is it’s true and James Rogers will have proven himself so be right in time despite all the comments dismissing his reporting as nonsense. Club has been seeking investment I think it’s a good thing but if what Gerry is saying is right it’s a 70% stake which basically means the club is in new hands

I thought the original proposal was for 25 %. 70 is nearly a full takeover which could go either way

Could we see a few young Hull superstars coming in on loan to complete the deal?

They were never going to get away with a stake that low. Anyone pumping money in was always going to want majority share

Desmond has a 25% stake in Rovers. But they are 50 % fan owned.

Ye not comparable, 70/30 split would be significant control though

What's in it for us really. Few token underage players from hull on loan while they get to rip apart our squad by taking our best players over for nothing. Unless they come in and say right here's €10m for a new ground, then effectively it's a waste of time imho, as we are back to P6 days. Having said that it appears the current owners have little to no ambition either.

Money in the short to medium term but that’s about it. Highly doubt we’ll see significant changes if any

Could be something like Waterford and Fleetwood. Andy Pilley doesn't hide the fact that Waterford will be a feeder club for Fleetwood, but players going the other way on loan too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLbf4U1aGeA

Lads may end up wishing for Bill to come back if Jonny Mc Turk decides we are surplus to requirements or if he decides to cash out at Hull. A quick google claimed he was worth €100 million, not exactly the type of money you need to run two clubs to their full potential, one being in England.

If true being honest it's kinda disheartening. Another set of new owners, the fifth set of owners in 11 yrs. Ripping the heart out of the club at this stage and a fifth group who won't invest in the infrastructure. We will still be sitting in squalor in fifty years time.
