It says in the piece "a bid" I'd take it that means to buy outright.
But don't worry, is not like the club is being touted around the UK after all.

There's no way a group who got the club for practically nothing, spent practically nothing on players, could be trying to make a quick profit by selling it now is there.

Bournemouth have the smallest stadium in the Premier League with a capacity of 11,000. Redevelopment of the Vatality stadium would probably be more of their focus ,then even considering Oriel Park.

Could be,but Duff and Shelbourne spoke previously about the club wanting investment. The Southampton deal fell through but they have been seeking alternative options.

Prob a deal on table with us and our owners have to make up their minds. Maybe they’re not convinced it’s in our best interests. Acun also negotiating with Shels in case our deal falls through.
It’s a big statement that he’s sitting with Shels officials. Couldn’t see that happening in Oriel

Ha just catching up on all the posts after a busy week now Martin.

There are so many pros to being part of a multi-club network, that I think it’s something to be excited about, as long as you get the right ownership group.

The main pros would be the ones you’ve all discussed here, namely additional financial power/security which I believe is the main driver here, the ability to loan players from within the network of clubs (or parent club), and then an improvement to facilities needed for the parent clubs to be comfortable sending players to DFC. To compete to win not only the LOI but also progress meaningfully in Europe, the club probably needs that help now.

I’d also throw in the additional benefits that come from information sharing - when I was at the club I could ask the AFCB scouting dept for all of the scouting reports over a number of years that were on the system as part of their scouting process in order to make better decisions on potential signings - the more info you have on players the more signings you’ll get right.

You should also consider information sharing on best practice, from scouting to sports science, coaching to commercial. Even the ability for SOD to go and visit partner clubs to spend time with the other head coaches in the network and learn from their coaching staff would help his personal development. Generally speaking, the right club network can add a lot of value to a club with fairly modest resources such as DFC.

On the flip side, the ownership needs to be mindful of protecting the culture and identity of each club within it. That strikes me as being hugely important to the people of Dundalk, and I personal experience helps me understand why. You don’t want to be considered a feeder club, you want to be known for your own success and history which cannot and will never be taken away.

Other negatives may include losing some of your top talent, although this always happen when you sit where you sit in the football food chain. You have to accept you’re playing a role for a bigger group, and there will decisions made above your head, which may not have been made is the club was a sole entity. You may also have to take players on that the coach may not have necessarily chosen, but they may need a place in the EU to keep them to build points for work permit requirements in the UK etc. But these are things you can accept as long as the positives outweighs the negatives.

In an ideal world you’ll find a multi club network with owners who have a strategic vision that aligns with Dundalk’s and it’s a mutually beneficial partnership.

I hope the fans - the ultimate custodians - are open to change and embrace new people if this happens. I also hope they continue to strongly defend what they consider to be the best interests of the club - as they did in the final year of the previous ownership. The fan influence at Dundalk is great when used in the right way and any new owners will need to respect the power of the people!

Fingers crossed the current owners find a really good partner for joint ownership and the club we all love can grow and compete at the top level once again!

Thanks for the post Andy. You've made a lot of interesting points. Some sort of investment is needed if we want any kind of success I suppose. We can’t look back to 2013 and think that’s going to happen again. The stars aligned for that and I can’t help thinking that’s never going to happen again, especially with not only Derry and rovers but also Pats investing heavily.
Yes we can stay with local ownership only and maybe end up in the 1st division with our pride intact but if we do that we’d have to accept the fact that we’ll be playing in the same OP forevermore. I wonder will the crowds keep coming…

Trust me lads, we need to give Hull City a wide berth. It will not end well. That are a Mickey Mouse club with bigger ambitions than competence. Acun is a decent guy but he will eventually suffer from the same frustration that every other City owner had. Hull is a Rugby League town with two Super League teams, City will always be the third team in the town. This guy has not actually invested any money in the team. You have been warned.

All I can do is laugh at this tread……..can you all get together and come up with an ideal investor blue print to help the current owners, just to clarify what the ideal investor looks like.(No Americans, no owners of English clubs or any other clubs for that matter, no one that has heard of peak 6, no one that uses lynx body spray……🙄) we can all hope and pray that it’s the righ deal, but unless we know the fine print we are talking through our bum holes.😂😂😂😂
