Derry City v Dundalk Fri March 10th 7.45 pm
Derry City the only unbeaten team in the league. Jordan McEneff has started the season well, was rated at Arsenal before the injury. He needs to step up because they have a lot of midfielders.
Both teams have signed good wingers on loan. Tulloch for Dundalk and Ollie O Neill at Derry. Whelan will get some service when he returns from injury,
Kelly and Annesley will probaly be back for Dundalk.

Duffy seems to still be out for them, move hasn't gone to plan for himself or them at all so far. They're missing big names but it'll be a tough ask nonetheless.
Hopefully we carry on our good record up there.

A big test of where we are after two poor performances and two good results. Derry starting well, they might even be marginal favourites for the league with Rovers' slow start. Our record up there is ridiculous- we've lost something like 2 of the last 15 in the Brandywell.

Derry's style of play seems to suit us a lot more than a team like Shels or Drogheda that's well organised and hard to break down. Hopefully Dicky is back for this one as I can see us letting them have a lot of ball in their third of the pitch and us trying to catch them on the break

Guessing Annesley still not recovered yet while the others have. Must've been last to get the bug.

That was the type of game that would make you question your interest in the league of Ireland. Absolutely desperate standard from both sides. Barely recognisable as an actual game of football.

Awful game. We were crap going forward but defended well for most of the second half. Good point away from home.

It was a poor game but Derry City tried to play a bit. Dundalk could hardly string a pass together. Ben Doherty impressed at left back for Derry.

Thought we were excellent first half and if a couple of our decisions were better we may have created another couple of chances. Derry went up a couple of gears in the second half and our players had to work their arses off to get anything from the game. All you can ever ask from your team is to give absolutely everything and the players ran themselves into the ground.
If we beat the teams around us and pick up a few points against Derry and Rovers it'll be an excellent season.
Finally, Derry are an excellent side. If they don't implode and can stay relatively injury free it'll be a serious challenge for Rovers to retain their title

On a separate note, very funny to watch rovers implode, Cleary having an torrid time and apparently Burke was fighting with his own supporters at full-time.
Pats near the bottom so in comparison we've had a decent enough start considering.

I thought Derry are no great shakes at all if being honest.Louth4sam wrote: ↑Fri Mar 10, 2023 9:51 pm Thought we were excellent first half and if a couple of our decisions were better we may have created another couple of chances. They dominated the second half but the final pass was off at times. Ryan Graydon is very direcet, they didn't seem to use him enough. The pitch obviously an issue as players are getting injured regularly. Whelan coming back from a ACl to play on that surface wouldn't be good

It was grim watching that but I thought we defended very well. An away point against Derry and holding them scoreless is a great result.
