Disgusted with that performance tonight. Lot of those players simply aren't good enough for this club. Sending off killed it but we were shocking and just capitulated far too easily. Clear to see that without hoban wr have no outlet and little threat up top. Up to the board to put up or shut up now and put their hands in their pockets and sign some decent quality. The current squad simply isn't good enough.

Re: Dundalk V Shamrock Rovers March 31st
Found out and exposed this evening. No excuses this time round, this is a SOD squad and it is up to him to get it performing consistently. Looking in from outside, it seems we are a group of one trick pony´s who are being sent out to play a system they are not good enough to play or they do not understand. The sending off wouldn't have changed the points distribution either this evening, boys against men, no plan B up front and that is something the manager should have sorted out in the off season. We have players on the pitch who are not good enough for the ambitions of the club .... if this is the standard being delivered by the current ownership and management, then we can all forget group stages of Europe ever again.

We simply don't have enough strength never mind quality in the starting eleven let alone the entire squad. It should have been changed at half time not waiting until the 68th minute.

Re: Dundalk V Shamrock Rovers March 31st
When I seen the lineup I knew we wouldn't score and would cough up goals. That is a poor Rovers side and we made them look good. I don't think we are as bad as some of the previous posts have suggested and have the makings of a good team. But there are too many passengers and below standard players in the squad.
Let's forget about the red card, we had one decent chance all night and three of the goals were appallingly defended. Two free headers in the box and one badly defended corner. The fourth goal was well worked and a good finish.

Really hard to see it properly from the shed but looked like one of those that is in between a yellow and red. Thought the ref was really poor all night. Benson taken out of it on edge of box and ref gave a free out. Wonder if that's why Benson went in the way he did for his sending offMartin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 10:41 pm https://twitter.com/rtesoccer/status/16 ... 43489?s=12
Benson’s was a yellow card, no more.

The ref didn't cost us. We didn't turn up we weren't good enough simply didn't turn up. Our first shot on target came in the 88th minute.

Agreed. Shocking defending and nothing up top. Our saving grace is this Rovers team is much weaker than the last few seasons or they would have scored 6 or 7niall_hearty2000 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 11:04 pm The ref didn't cost us. Re: Dundalk V Shamrock Rovers March 31st
Where exactly have we proven it? Ok we hammered pats and drew with Derry, but we failed to beat ucd yet again, lost easily to bohs, robbed Drogheda and got hammered tonight putting up zero fight. It's clear to see the squad isn't strong enough or with enough quality in depth. It's been glaringly obvious since early pre season and none more so than the Leinster cup v Shels That's why we have three keepers in every match day squad. If hoban doesn't play we have no link up play and no goal threat. it was clear from last season when Hoban got injured that we had no goal threat so it should have been addressed correctly in the off season with the greatest of respect to him, signing a player from the lower non leagues of Scotland isn't the quality required so who signed him and why? Is it that the budget is that low or did somebody think he will be a revelation in the league of Ireland? Also Why wait until the 68th minute to make a sub?Lilywhites-1903Elite wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 11:11 pm Jaysus talk about an overreaction or what?
The sending off just changed things and was little hope after that having ten men against a good side.
They had the worst possible start to the season but they were always gonna get going , theyve the best squad in the league and won the last 3 league titles , if we didn't go a man down like that it wasn't as one sided game either. This Dundalk side has proven they've a good side there , things will go wrong sometimes but you move onto the next one and they'll bounce back.

The only one deluded here it seems is you. I applaud u for resolutely supporting the team but call a spade a spade when it's warranted.we were abysmal tonight even before the ten men. The squad simply isn't good enough. And we didn't turn up. The threw the towel in tonight. Ok I'll grant u that 11 v 11 it isn't a four nil game but it was still ending in a RVs victory. And they are a very average RVs side.Lilywhites-1903Elite wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 11:33 pm If he hadn't of got sent off it was a different game. it was over as soon as it happened.
We've proven in games this season there is Quality there , deluded because a team of ten men got hockeyed.

Duff was easily led into saying what he said about the refereeing standards. While few will disagree that they are poor, he will likely have caused himself some grief with the FAI now.Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 10:41 pm https://twitter.com/rtesoccer/status/16 ... 43489?s=12

I don't know why they didn't make a move for James Akintunde over the off season. He would have been a good back up striker. There wasn't many other strikers available.
