Cork v Dundalk 10/4/2023

Post by Gearóid Bellew »

Moving on from the home defeat to Sligo we wrap up the easter weekend with a trip to Turners Cross.

Kick off is at 5pm

Presumably we will still be without Hoban for this one, with some people calling for heads to roll on twitter etc already a result would be good to calm nerves, not an easy task.

Anyone else going? I'll be there anyway.

Not going but 4 of us booked in for a night away for the second game in June, looking forward, haven't been down there since the 1-0 late Chris Shields winner in 2018.

Will be interesting to see the lineup for this. There’s been a certain amount of “lineup lotto” to SOD’s team sheets so far, where a new face is brought in and a player unexpectedly drops to the bench or is injured. I don’t know why Slogget didn’t start against Sligo.
For what it’s worth, something needs to change imo. We can’t keep going out , doing the same thing and expecting a different result. Slogget should start as DM and Lewis should be moved up the pitch for this game.

Slogget should have started v Sligo, SOD should have seen we had an unbalanced MF v Rovers (Benson can't play on the right imo).

I'd nearly try Kelly up front, options are so limited at the minute.

Sloggett, McCourt and Kelly back in the starting 11 and thankfully Hoban is back on the bench.

First half same rubbish, need to get something in this second half.....no control of the game players running all over the place.

Another shocking performance where we created absolutely nothing. Recruitment has been shocking. Down to 7th and that could be 8th if shels beat Sligo tonight.

Yet another shit show by the SOD squad. Sure the man himself will be telling us after the game - they showed great application and fight, plenty of fight in them ...... overall fitness great, too many games or the ref will be to blame ...
If it was anyone else leading this group, there would be a mob out for his head. If anything he is taking us backwards compared to last season. Would be interesting to see budgets, because either we have a shite budget that is being bigged publicly or the people scouting are boy scouts and not football people.

ODonnells players and oDonnells tactics playing like headless chickens. No goals in that team.

Simply not good enough. 100% down to recruitment. We should have had the squad more or less finalised before Christmas and left it far too late. Some of the players that we kept too aren't good enough either.

We had 62% possession in the first half and barely created any chances.

Dundalk haven't played well all season. The Pats game was a freakish game, every shot Dundalk had, went it. The Shelbourne game wasn't great and they had a goal disallowed at the end for a equalizer.
