Re: Pats v Dundalk 26.05
P!ss poor stuff. We have taken a massive step backwards this year.
Our work rate is dire compared to others & we don’t have many with any fire in them.
10 man Pats deserved that tonight.
We’re do we go from here? If Rovers Beat us next week is ODonnell under genuine pressure ?

No. O'Donnell is working wonders to have this group of players where they are in the division. The problems are elsewhere.

I have not posted for a long time , but feel it is time to back the manager & players , instead of talking bullshit from the sideline. It’s quite easy to see that the majority of the posters know sweet FA about the game , or the running of a club ( with important players injured etc.) I have to say I am 100% behind Stephen Mc Donnell . The present team are trying to play the game in a proper way , obviously we have been caught at the back in both the Bohs & Pats matches . We could have won both matches. We had an inexperienced side against two very strong teams , both capable of winning the League , especially with Rovers faltering etc. All we need is two centre halves ( where we get them , won’t be easy) . Now for the posters , stop been negative , & support the team . Stevie can guide us back to the top , so cool the jets , give him time .

got to back the manager , no choice .
that doesn't mean provide cover for seemingly ambitiousless owners who appear to just be burning through p6 left over cash .
sods popularity as a quality ex player , thankfully giving him extra leeway . Things can easily get better

Well I did try , when we beat Bate Borisov in Tallaght , our home ground for Europe & won millions , nobody wanted to know , the momentum was there , but there was no will or ambition . I realize now , it was never going to happen . So I won’t waste my time or energy anymore on that one . The Kenny era was a great time & great players around the club , that was the time , opportunity gone .

Sorry mate, I usually appreciate your posts and take on things in general but, seriously, have you seriously watched our games lately and still come up with your post? I do not blame Stephen O Donnell for our performances so far. For gods sake, we cannot even get a result against 9 or 10 men. Apart from a few performances, we have been dire. Stephen has done the best he can with the current squad. I also understand that we have been blighted with injuries to key players but the recruitment lately, has been garbage. It is not fair to single out individuals, but some of our signings are at best ,poor! Some look like they have never seen a football, some of them do not seem as if they care and none of them look fit enough to play senior football. If this is what we are stuck with, never mind European football, we will be back in the first division soon. The standard of football in the league this year is very poor, even in the top teams so to be mid table in this league is no great shakes. We would be better spending what money we have on one or two better quality players than wasting our money on a lot of garbage. Just my view and no intention of dishing anyone. The owners did well to get rid of the yanks but they need to either, get some investment in or let Stephen get who he wants rather than relying on second rate agents from across the water to find us no - hopers!Johnnybegood33 wrote: ↑Sat May 27, 2023 3:03 pm I have not posted for a long time , but feel it is time to back the manager & players , instead of talking bullshit from the sideline. Bring back Peak 6 / Uncle Bill / Hull City / or Sideshow Bob , we need to buy players in . It’s not rocket science Surely there must be players up North ( like Con Davey & Jackie Mc Manus , teak tough defenders that could play ( not just hoof the ball ) . Is there such a thing as a scouting system in the club. Surely there are players in lower Leagues around the country that can defend . The days of players going away to Brexit Land is gone . There has to be players out there that can step up . There is a gravy train in Europe on an annual basis . We got to get investment , end off . A canny investor can do the Maths .

That’s better Johnny, good post. Jackie McManus was a great player and a great Captain in Jim’s first great team. You are right, I am sure there are gems like him out there. Just needs better research rather than lazy recruitment. By the way, what a shot Con had on him? But we need to back Stephen 100%, and give him the proper tools to do the job rather than just tools! C’mon da town!Johnnybegood33 wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2023 5:54 pm Bring back Peak 6 / Uncle Bill / Hull City / or Sideshow Bob , we need to buy players in . Re: Pats v Dundalk 26.05
Not sure it was correct call to go 3 at the back and 'for for it' v 10 men, maybe if we were at home yes I get that. However Pats are a better side than us, we should have used the extra man better in MF and to grind them down, at least get a point out of the efforts.
Then Pats score with their only shot on target in the second half and win the game, this is really bad by the mgt team and players, plus we are coming far too predictable, last week v Bohs they got 1 back, we all knew they would get a second, last Fri another golden chance, end result was 1 point from 6, when it should have been 4.
