Re: Rovers v Dundalk 02.06
No penetration going forward , no battler in midfield, wingers that never seem to cross a ball or beat a man, defenders that don’t know what touch tight means. So Frustrsting watching this team.
My old man always said during the Kenny years to enjoy the success, at the time it was hard to ever see it ending. It’s fairly starting to sink in the last few weeks that the glory days are well and truly in the past.

Did Dundalk make any moves for Jordan Flores when he left Hull? He's been very at Bohemians. Playing consistently and and in good shape. Dundalk midfield is very poor.

A few observations
Owners who don't want to be here, why did they get involved?
Manager, not able to get the best from players? Tactics - no clue
Blame the Americans for where we are, no chance, that's letting Connolly & Brown of the hook. After a windfall from Europe, €5/6 million, why sell at that time?
Where are the "Trust" from a few years back, representing the supporters. Ohhhh wait they got in bed the Connolly & Brown, got positions on the board & power.
The present supporters group are toothless. Cant hardly get a meeting with the present regime.
Present owners won't talk to the supporters or talk with the local press.
A very sad chapter in our history. A shame.

Tactics all wrong against eleven and even worse against ten. Too many passengers in the team. All so predictable and it's now beginning to become a pattern

Looks like it. Stevie sold a fib by owners. Fan euphoria after Dan McDonnell's exclusive takeover news that was filled with promises looks silly now. Transition period to being a mid table team.
On a side note, coming into Summer is there a budget & does Garts or Stevie sign the players? I doubt Stevie enjoys a former player breathing down his neck or making decisions for him. But win Monday and Friday its happy days and the narrative changes.

I doubt beating a very poor UCD team would change anything. Maybe getting a win against Cork City next friday. Cork City starting to find form.Oriel O'Shea wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:36 pmLooks like it. Stevie sold a fib by owners. Yeah buckley has given them hope, but at the start of the year you'd have expected two wins.Richie87 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 02, 2023 11:41 pmI doubt beating a very poor UCD team would change anything. Easy for fans on here, FB and responses to podcast tweets to complain but as I said before there was a nervous breakdown by the fans when the Hull deal was floated. The owners have clearly said that investment is needed but yes that shouldn’t stop them improving their own communication with the fans.
However the fan base need to take some responsibility. There were banners about being a feeder club at the Bohs game ffs, by the same fans who use flares that cost thousands in fines but still we complain about the budget. You couldn’t make it up

I don't see how being a feeder club for the 36th best team in England would improve things tbh.
That said, there's obviously major problems there, from ownership and investment, through recruitment, training and tactics.
One the game itself, I mean we could all see Finn/Kavanagh pushed way up and hanging way out wide. Either the wingers get back with them- some fukking chance with Tulloch and Kelly!- or the full back need to get closer. Maybe that means Sloggett or someone dropping deeper when we're not in possession, I dunno, I'm not the professional football coach. But this really obvious issue wasn't addressed and led to the first goal. I hate to single players out, but it's hard to fathom how Muller and Malley are favoured. That's not to excuse the rest. The lack of pace and urgency was shocking. The decsion making was almost beyond belief. Passing poor, crossing dismal, shooting awful. Free kicks routinely taken too quickly.
Positives... good to have Boyle back and Sheppard had a good game.

Got to wonder if Dave Mackey was the brains of the operation last season.

sod must be backed
young ex players with little coaching / management experience are great to hire as managers ... fans love it ; agents and media types , owners tend to like the potential influence they'll be able to get over them in contrast to the old school manager who knows the ropes and stands up to owners and others when it's needed.
but needs to be done with the right support structure, feels like there's a lack of coaching experience in the set up , seeing games out , dealing with players who have dropped their heads etc
two wins and it's a new picture 7 days from now , but owners need to shape up .
fans need to back the manager

What were Hull City bringing to the table. Sending a few players on loan doesn't mean they would be investing in the first team Squad or facilities. They have been in talks with Shelbourne for the past couple of months and that doesn't seem to be going anywhere.Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 12:00 am Easy for fans on here, FB and responses to podcast tweets to complain but as I said before there was a nervous breakdown by the fans when the Hull deal was floated.
