Most level headed fans accept that this isn't sod's fault that the owners have to accept responsibility for this shambles. If the budget isn't there be open and transparent to us the fans. We will be here long after you depart. Majority of fans weren't in favour of hull in llight of events with peak 6 and Leroy rosenior's comments. But it feels like statsports are getting the free ride peak six didn't because they are local owners. They shouldn't be exempt from criticism just because they are locals.southerncomfort wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 10:57 am sod must be backed
young ex players with little coaching / management experience are great to hire as managers ... fans love it ; agents and media types , owners tend to like the potential influence they'll be able to get over them in contrast to the old school manager who knows the ropes and stands up to owners and others when it's needed.
but needs to be done with the right support structure, feels like there's a lack of coaching experience in the set up , seeing games out , dealing with players who have dropped their heads etc
two wins and it's a new picture 7 days from now , but owners need to shape up .
fans need to back the manager

Hull were serious . They had people in OP doing due diligence. The owners obviously saw that there might be potential in a partnership. However, word got out and most will agree that there was an outcry from the fans. They had banners in daly mount and the podcasts and FB warriors were out in force against it. Hull made a huge mistake in shooting the mouth off. IMO the reaction spooked the owners and the chairman had to do an explanatory interview with Gav.Richie87 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 2:00 pmWhat were Hull City bringing to the table. The owners have clearly said that investment is needed but yes that shouldn’t stop them improving their own communication with the fans.
However the fan base need to take some responsibility. There were banners about being a feeder club at the Bohs game ffs, by the same fans who use flares that cost thousands in fines but still we complain about the budget. You couldn’t make it up
What I’m saying, is that investment is clearly needed and those investors will be looking for something in return. When the next Hull is mentioned, are the fans going to give them and the owners a hearing or chase them out of town?? If it’s the latter, don’t be expecting to challenge for anything any time soon

I'm not saying they weren't interestes, but they quickly moved on to Shelbourne as the Dundalk talk faded. Their owners were at Tolka Park back in March for a game. There hasn't been any developments since.
Dundalk need a new pitch which will cost big money. Then to bring in better quality players will be more money. I don't think Hull would have been interested in spending lots without any return.

Maybe the owners should have held a meeting and been transparent with the fans ahead of rosenior as good as saying Dundalk will have to play a system that suits hull.Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 6:27 pmHull were serious . There are certainly issues off field and questions about the level of investment, and while I support the players and management SOD can't be exempt from criticism. Recruitment was poor and tactically we've struggled again and again. Pace, fitness, trmpo, decision making, set pieces are all things that he has immense influence over.
Luckily there's not a decent team in the league bar Rovers, but we need to seriously up it if we're going to compete with Pats and Bohs and the like for Europe

From someone living close to Hull and just so you and everyone knows, we have yet see any form of investment in the Hull City by the owner let alone any merged assets. In fact there are only grand gestures and a few very underwhelming loan signings. So everything I said when this “partnership” was mooted still stands, to summarise, loads of BS with no substance. In short, if you are going to get into bed with another club or investors at least do the due diligence properly to establish that any proposal will benefit Dundalk! Rosenior is well intentioned but frankly from what I have seen he doesn’t even have a playing style for Hull City let alone enforce it on any other team.Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 6:27 pmHull were serious . Lads with the owners we have in SS and their connections to clubs or football groups world wide, we should be aiming for bigger than investment from Johnny the Turk from Hull. SS work with the Red Bull, Man City ...... the smaller Flyeralarm group to name a few added to the individual clubs on their books .... could they be tempted to invest in an Irish team to mature players for any of their teams? They have excellent connections to Arsenal ... could be get them on board for their youth players to get a taste of first team/European football. Even if they didn't make it to first team football in a top league, their resale value / exposure would be increased. Taking City or Red Bull, Arsenal, Liverpool .... €2-5 million per year would be peanuts for them, if done correctly they could create an excellent asset in their portfolio. The above goes for both mens and womens teams, however you would have to pitch a professional setup to them.

The amount of injuries Dundalk are getting from the 3G pitch it wouldn't be worthwhile for a Club linking up with Dundalk. Unless they would be prepared to cover the costs of a new pitch and other facilities.
Derry have the same problem with their pitch but Philip Doherty could cover that cost.

A pitch would be the least of any investors problems if it was sold to them correctly. The club have a state of the art gym (paid for by?), invest a little in the training pitches (with a view of identifying and moving to a better facility) .... Liverpools owners paid north of 50 million for the clubs new training facility and are now trying to buy back the old one for the ladies team, 1 million for a pitch at Oriel if they could nurture 2-3 players to be sold on or impact their first team? Abromowitsch is supposed to have put over €120 million into Vitesse in Holland over years through shady off shore companies, funnily enough, their financial problems started once he was forced out of football 2 years ago.Richie87 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 12:37 pm The amount of injuries Dundalk are getting from the 3G pitch it wouldn't be worthwhile for a Club linking up with Dundalk. Yeah but Liverpool owners will make that money back. They are extending the Capacity at Anfield to 61,000 to be ready for next season. The season tickets and match day tickets are very expensive.

Thats the point .... FSG will make money from investment .... thats what business is about, investing to get a return and that is what a modern football club is ... a business. Our club is a basket case ..... fans call Dundalk a big football town, however being honest our club has shite attendances and an element of those who show up cost us money through fines. The truth is, we have good weather fans, if there is a big game they come out, otherwise they blame everything from the state of Oriel to the direction the is blowing not to attend or part with money.Richie87 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 1:48 pm Yeah but Liverpool owners will make that money back. If Dundalk was as big a football town as it is made out to be, Oriel should be sold out regularly every season .... when did we sell Oriel out? We are in the bottom quarter of the attendances table ... big football town my arse.

Outside investment in a LOI club isn't sustainable. It might get 3 or 4 years but then costs start building up. Southampton were on the verge of a takeover with Shelbourne but they reckoned it wasn't going to be sustainable given how far Shamrock Rivers are ahead with academy and facilities m
