Re: FAI Cup
Very unlucky draw. It's a bit of a double whammy as if we are still in Europe it would have been an opportunity for some of our fringe players if we are still in Europe.

Re: FAI Cup
It's scheduled between the first and second rounds in Europe too, which is a pain in the arse. Rovers will play both rounds, win or lose, we'll have a very good chance of playing both (because the first round of the Conference is so weak). Add in the complication that we'll be playing Thursday-Thursday in Europe and Rovers will be playing Tuesdays or Wednesdays.

Re: FAI Cup
Draw for the second round will be broadcast live on Game On on 2FM at 6pm on Tuesday.
Bohemians
Bray Wanderers
Cork City
Derry City
Drogheda Utd
Dundalk
Finn Harps
Galway Utd
Kerry FC
Rockmount FC
St Patrick's CYFC
St Patrick's Athletic
Skerries Town
UCD
Waterford FC
Wexford FC
Only 7 PD sides left so at least one FD or non-league side will make the QF. I fancy a trip to Kerry or Drogheda at home.
Ties to be played weekend of 18-20 August which is
● the week of ECL QR3 L2, so could be another Sunday game if we get past Akureyri.
● a week before we play Rovers again in Tallaght.

One of Derry and pats gone , which will prob narrow the chances of 4th in the league getting Europe

Re: FAI Cup
The cup has added incentive now, as 4th place may not get europe as when we get to the QF stage, this will see 2 of the current top 3 out (Rovers, then Derry or Pats).
4th place only comes into play if a top 3 wins the cup, so it could be down to one club if we don't make the final (hoping Derry or Pats win it and we come 4th), chances are reducing.
Then again we could try and win the cup and auto qualify for europe !!!!!!!

Re: FAI Cup
Friday clears the games in hand over the Euro clubs and, assuming (dangerous thing in this league) that Bohs beat UCD, a single point will cover second to fourth, with Dundalk 3 points further back. With 11 games to go, none of those positions are out of reach.

Re: FAI Cup
Derry out of the cup. We've a 28.5% chance of drawing bohs or pats who hopefully we can avoid. Finn Harps or Wexford would be ideal.

Re: FAI Cup
Galway will be dangerous opponents. Basically promoted so they can focus on the Cup.
