Would've took a scrappy 1-0 before the match all day long with a tricky run in the league coming up. Brownlie had a really solid game, very similar type of player to Garts. Annesley on the other hand looked bereft of confidence after that great run of form he had, nearly cost us a goal too.
Really poor attendance, simply need to do better on that front. Can't just turn up whenever it's Rovers or Europe.

John Martin has a huge strapping on his knee for weeks now, so presume that’s why he didn’t start tonight.
We never controlled the game imo. Ainesly is going through a rough patch and Muller started at LB ahead of Leahy which is interesting. Is McCourt injured?
Just a word on the attendance, 1900 is shocking. Very few from Sligo and maybe a few DFC fans on holiday but that doesn’t account for such a drop off. Barstoolers watching Man City or what? All the bandwagoners have disappeared .
On a positive note, the shed tried to lift the team in the 2nd half and no flares!!

We were poor, but Sligo are absolutely shocking. I think our weak link in defence is Annesley.

I wouldn't say they are shocking. They created more chances then Dundalk but lacked a cutting edge, probably should have had a penalty in second half

Poor again. Second half shocking. Midfield is a huge problem atm. Different game if the spaniard didn't miss an open goal and header 30 seconds before we scored. Thankfully it wasn't max mata there tonite.
Drogs are scum!

Russell was the only person in Oriel who looked for the penalty

Daniel Leahy man of the match , he covered every blade of grass & left nothing on the pitch . He tracked back & he got in a huge amount of tackles , & of course won the header on the far post . A master class & thats what required from every player in the squad . Ryan played well & has a big future , maybe get the cross in to Hoban a bit earlier & of course Pat will be lurking inside the 12 yard box . As for the game , we needed a 2nd & things would be more comfortable . Sligo were dangerous on the break & game not over until final whistle . Dont forget it is early days for Stevie as a manager & he is learning every match , onwards & upwards . There is a lot of technically very good players in the squad who play an attractive passing game . The old story again , we need to score more goals & have a general in midfield ( Chris Shields come back ) . Cmon The Town .

We will have to agree to disagree on Malley ... I find when he is in their he slows things down and disappears too often, but that is the joy if being a fan, we all see it differently, otherwise it would be boring. I will agree with you on the rest. Brownlie could end up being a master signing. Question is who drops out to make space for him ... could we be seeing the end of Boyler being a first team regular? As for the subs .... like I would love to read SODs brain at times ...Louth4sam wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 10:27 pmMassive hole in the middle of the field and that's not down to Malley. I think he gets a lot of unfair criticism but he was far from out worst player tonight. Subs made a difference but he made changes way too late and we easily could have conceded.Pepsi wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2023 9:44 pm Very luck to get 3 points here tonight. Yet another game where I am asking myself what SOD is thinking when picking his team and making subs, did he not see his 11 last week burst their arses for him? Malley slows us down something else, added to that the lad looks like he has 2 gears and one of those is stop. We are a team who cannot afford such a player as we do not have the added quality in other parts of the team.
If I'm taking any positives from the game aside from the 3 points obviously, it is Brownlie looks a cracking signing and we actually have a bench now that can make a difference.

I think there is an excellent player in Malley but needs a destroyer behind him to sweep up and drive him forward. I think he'd do a good job much further up the field than to be dropping into defence to pick up the ball.Pepsi wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2023 7:02 pmWe will have to agree to disagree on Malley ... I think the CB pairing should be Brownlie and Boyle. I always feel that a back four is more balanced when it has a right footed RCB and and a left footed LCB, it stops players having to turn and switch to their dominant foot to get the ball forward or out to the fullbacks.
I like the idea of Annesley being turned into a number 6, he plays in that position for Gibraltar against top opposition, so why not?
