Shelbourne v Dundalk 6/10/2023 19:45
Rolling on from the wins against Cork & Drogheda, with Shelbourne drawing v Bohs & losing v Shamrock Rovers things have really tightened up.
4 games to go, lets see what happens.

Really interesting run-in if we can beat Shels, which won't be easy- they've only lost 6 of 32 league games.
Realistically we'll probably need to beat Shels and Bohs to finish fourth. Two must-win games against Shels and Bohs and two winnable away games at Sligo and UCD. Shels go to Derry and then have UCD and Drogs. Bohs have UCD and Cork but also Pats, and the FAI Cup to distract them. You'd think Pats should be safe in third, 4 ahead of Bohs, 6 ahead of Shels and 7 ahead of us, but they have Bohs, Rovers, Sligo and Derry to play and the FAI Cup. Four wins almost guarantees 4th. Could probably draw one and sneak fourth.

Think we'll need at least 58 points and for results to fall our way to have a chance. Most we can get is 61.
It could even be a case if we were to beat Shels and Bohs we could still need to run up a big score against UCD in the last game to overturn the GD.

I think if we can beat Shels, 4th place is def on the cards, but the most likely result is probably a draw, usually that would not be a bad outcome from Tolka, in recent seasons.
However that will leave a 1 point gap still and remember we have 2 to overhaul, not sure we can do it with that, we might, but would mean 100% then need to win last 3 = max of 59, if we can beat them we can finish with a max of 61, Shels can then finish on a max of 59.
Just as well the GD not too big on Bohs, as if we beat them, they can also finish on same as us = 61, but they have currently +12 as opposed to our + 8, a 2-0 win for us (if we match their scores - we won't) will give each GD of+10 but we have scored more (50 v 47).
So many permutations, either way of looking at it, we are 3rd favs to get 4th, but that's only today, if we lose on Friday, I would think its over, as we can only finish on 58 then, Shels can finish on 62, but they are away to Derry after Fri, then again 59 still beats what we can get.
We need to win on Friday then..................................

Interesting to see the starting line up if Boyle and Malley are back fit , I'd be tempted to start with the same team that faced Drogheda , can't see many goals tonight so hopefully nick a 1-0.

Slogget obviously filling in as a centre half, but he needs to show more aggression. Brushed off the ball to easy

Brownlie shocking we need to change this defence before ht or this could end up three or four to shels they should be at least two up already.

I'd say O'Donnell is thinking Malley is the answer here.

Brownlie looks like he’s having a kick about in the park, Kelly getting roasted and looks lost, no shape no leaders. Awful to watch

Sonni Nattestad would shore up the defence.Pepsi wrote: ↑Fri Oct 06, 2023 8:44 pmAhhh sure we have lokal ownership and no money .... better than Peak6 capitalists with money to burn. None of our fans want Investors....

Why does O'Donnell spend the entire game ranting and raving at his own players? Do they not understand their jobs from.all the training sessions and 40 odd games they've played this season.
