Ok so we all want drogs to win next week but….
say it’s a draw and we beat UCD by 4 we’ll be level with Shels, will we get 4th on goals scored because we’ve got about 10 more than them??

I imagine it would go to goals scored. The head to head is the same with one victory each 2-1 for us and 1-0 to them and two 1-1 draws. So we can't be separated that way as victories and goal diff in head to head are deadlocked

In the event of drawing level with Shels on points and GD lads (we need small matter of winning by 4) it will go down to goals scored which would put us 4th.

Drogs have a fair bit to play for on Fri, new owners will be in town, last game, they won't want to lose, I can see a draw there, just not sure Drogs will win, but who knows?

Can we get 4 then if that's the case v a team currently on -73 GD?

On the game last night, thought we were excellent in the second half, there is nothing quite like it when we sweep forward shooting into the town end, we were 'at it' so full credit to the team and mgt for that. Subs worked a treat.

Mike can't really see Drogheda doing their local rivals a favour personally. Anything bar a win for shels could potentially get us European football and Drogheda would know that. Yes players may be playing for a contract but I just can't see it myself. But hope I'm proven wrong.

Great win last night, a really scrappy first half from both teams , subs made a difference but I taught sloggett was brilliant, he matched afalobi for strength and pace and won the battle.

Credit where credit is due ... team put in a great shift last night, had a wee touch of lady luck and seen out the win. Have a feeling it is a little too late to get Europe, however it shows what was in them.

Don't think Drogheda would put in a half arsed effort in the last game just to spite their local rivals.

We'll see how "good" this Drogheda side actually is, may seem harsh but I'm not that convinced by them. I know they're operating on a shoestring but their recruitment has been very clever and they have some great players in Markey, Rooney, Deegan and Keely. Markey and Rooney in particular I could see at Shamrock Rovers next year.

If Stephen Bradley wants to do anything in Europe he needs to look beyond LOI. I see he wanted Alan Mannus to continue on next year, but he's not changing his mind on retiring.

Dont forget they are getting investment and a route to the UK up the road. Players may be playing for better contracts next season and Rovers or other clubs may not be attractive if lads feel they are not going to get first team football. Sometimes the grass is not always greener and all that and the direct link to the UK might be worth another year.

Kevin Doherty will want a good performance before getting a bigger budget. The trivela group have sacked 2 managers at Walsall since they took over last year, so Drogheda can't be lax going forward

Gotta feel for Annesley, has had zero luck with injuries this season.

Decent performance, great result. That second goal could be important, it puts us 2 ahead of Bohs on GD instead of just ahead on goals scored. Interestingly if Bohs beat Cork by 2 goals more than we beat UCD we'd finish dead level on points, GD and GS. Not sure if head-to-head comes next (we'd win on head-to-head)

Can't see us sneaking Europe but we have a chance. Does anyone seriously think any Drogs player gives a flying fukk whether Dundalk might qualify for Europe? Or cares enough to compromise their integrity and professionalism to possible fukk up Dundalk?
