Official Takeover Thread 2023
With a deal to sell the club reported to be imminent, who are the new owners!
Mags Byrne consortium
Conor McGregor
Brett Desmond
Who knows, but the Statsports era is coming to an end, two years of silence and going backwards.
Locals who we thought had the interest and the connections to progress the club, but it seems they were either not interested or not able to run a LOI club.

Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
Hearing he was yes but that deal fell through cpl weeks ago.
Another name mentioned was Ali pour the glentoran manager.
At this stage anyone is an improvement on Statsports. Surprised the furore that met the demise of Peak 6 hasn't been vented at Statsports by the "we want our club back" brigade.

Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
Apathy maybe? A lot of the leaks surrounding the ownership has come out all at once. Before this week, at worst you might have said that their communication with the support has been shocking and that they're not able to fund a team that could challenge for the top 3. The stuff with Bill was leaking out on the regular throughout lockdown, so the anger built up overtime. Shield's departure was the turning point I feel.niall_hearty2000 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 1:31 pmHearing he was yes but that deal fell through cpl weeks ago.

I'd expect there to be a response or display tomorrow night anyway if we're still none the wiser.

I'd say a response will come when reality bites unfortunately. It's hardly news though. Club have been honest about exploring options financially since earlier this year and accounts for last year werent great and no windfall has come sinceTowelie wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 1:45 pmApathy maybe? Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
The StatSports era has been extremely frustrating as it seems like missed potential. I'm not even talking about financial investment, they have contacts in football all over the world and I can't see any evidence of where we have leveraged these contacts.
If you look at where we are as a club from when they took over to where we are now it's hard to see any improvement on or off the pitch aside from a scoreboard which admittedly is fantastic. I still think/hope they will have some involvement with the club as I think a partnership in the sports science side of the club would be beneficial to both parties.

I have only seen StatSports mentioned here. does AC or Fastfix not own 50% of the club?
Seems strange everyone are only mentioning one side of the ownership, am I missing info here?

Agree here like to see relationship maintained with whoever takes us over.Louth4sam wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 2:26 pm The StatSports era has been extremely frustrating as it seems like missed potential. Ah stop they have offered zero since taking over , what makes you think that would change?Oriel O'Shea wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 3:05 pmAgree here like to see relationship maintained with whoever takes us over.Louth4sam wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 2:26 pm The StatSports era has been extremely frustrating as it seems like missed potential. My guess is if it's a takeover it's a full takeover not a share

Lout4sam means the partnership on sports science is maintained, and from what i heard they have treated the club well over the last ten years before they got involved as owners

Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
I may be wrong, but didn't the accounts from last year say that the owners put around €600k into the club between them? That's the sort of sum we're looking at just to keep the lights on and I don't think any of these men are cash rich enough to run a football club on their own without outside investment.

Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
That's exactly what I mean. We were getting GPS equipment & sports science expertise free of charge which costs our rivals. Why would we turn our noses up at that because some fans feel that enough money wasn't pumped in when they were owners?Oriel O'Shea wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 3:23 pm Lout4sam means the partnership on sports science is maintained, and from what i heard they have treated the club well over the last ten years before they got involved as owners

Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
I’d be very worried about that FFS and Mags Byrne rumour. Sure there was nearly as much fury about them taking over as with P6. The whole point of ‘we want out club back’ was for it not to go into the hands of people who know nothing about the club or who actually harmed it by giving huge contracts to players who the represented. Didn’t Vinny Perth come out and make a big play asking P6 to sell it to AC and SS.
I’d be shocked and very very disappointed if SS and especially AC sold it to that crowd

Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
Whole thing is very odd especially the strong Hoban rumours.
If as JR says an imminent change of ownership is very likely then what new owner wants to arrive basically saying I haven't a pot to piss in and I'm selling your most iconic player?
If not then why would the current owners be making decisions like this before the season even ends? It's unlikely but Europe still an outside chance and it's not as if they need him to sign up now with him under contract?
Hard to know what to belive just hoping things not half as bad as the rumour mill is suggesting.
