reading the sod comments in the Indo. seems an unnecessary outburst that doesn't exactly make us attractive to players next season (reminds you of the time he said the pitch was injuring players)
he's had far more leeway than a non ex legend would have had from fans and jouno-fans.

coverage can definitely be negative , the same is true of man united after their domination , but the vast majority have been very pro sod even when we were in occasional almost fillipo territory
criticism has only started in recent weeks . he's being too harsh , and you'd wonder why .

he now has 4 seasons under his belt as any type of coach , so can't see any better candidates for next season

but having a go at local press it not part of any success recipe , even when you have a point

Stephen having a go, was it not a few days ago he was broadcasting he didn't know what was happening re budgets & signing players for next season, what did he expect the Dundalk locals to do, we had to ask questions of what was happening to the club going forward.

However we do have some really smart arsed local journalists around the club, with inside information who regularly stir the pot both locally and nationally. Maybe that's who Stephen should be calling to book and not other harmless hacks.

Good on Pat for coming out and speaking the truth even if it isn't what fans want to hear. A few others at the club good learn from his honesty and willingness to communicate.
I suppose the journalist will be under fire now as the article paints a negative slant on the club....

It's bizarre that he's been told to leave when a takeover is on the cards. Horrible form from the ownership.

The article may explain why SOD came out with his rant. Was he trying to deflect from Pats article, knowing it was on its way .......

2 things which strike me in all of this:
1. SOD came out not so long ago saying he wanted to sit down with the board to get budgets etc. sorted, indirectly saying no budget was in place for next season. He then complains that journalists are asking questions, negative and digging for more. Does he think the journalists will only report what himself and someone else in the club say? Are they really that naive? If so, many in the club could do with PR training and an insight into how modern media work. Ould Bill even complained about the negativity in the press etc., so it is nothing new and they should have been working on changing it from day one.
2. If investment or a takeover from a solvent group was on the cards, surely you would not be telling your all time leading goal scorer that he is free to move, you would be trying everything to keep him happy until you can offer him something.

Lets hope they get major investment in and Pat is replaced by a 35+ goal scorer, so that we do not get left behind. Heard Mike T will be attending the UCD game, could we be seeing American money coming from some of his contacts?

Unless they are bringing in Harry Kane or Harland it won't be a 35 goal a season player.
LOI premier is very low for goal scoring. Afolabi ,Forrester and Keating the top scorers on 13. Hoban behind that on 12.

Franz Pierrot and Ronan Couglan scored heavily in the first Division. But mostly against part time teams.

It’s naive in the extreme to think ya can just dictate the narrative. Journalists gettin stick for reporting on negative stories that are true then the club comin out gaslightin people tellin everyone it’s all lies only to be caught out when the truth comes out like always. The clubs approach to local media is mad keep trying to just shoot the messenger. Own your sh1t like

He was at the Bournemouth game yesterday as well. It's just a football trip doubt there is anything else to take from it.

I really like the look of Pierrot, he's an absolute unit. Heard Coughlan was a bit of a bad egg/header.

Yeah he's very powerful and direct. His brother plays at a good level with Maccabi Haifa,

Athlone got Pierrot through the American link up they have

I don't understand the ire from SOD at the journos. Essentially the rumours appeared to be true. Why not direct the anger at the source of the leaks? It's easy to blame journos but supporters need an appropriate level of independent journalist as its not healthy to just get clubs side only

Also the Hoban thing doesn't make sense. New owners or not they would still be on the hook to cover the remaining year of his contract. Even if another club came in and offered him for example €200 dfc would still be on the hook for the remainder. Why would hoban agree to a pay cut. Also the PFAI would be on this so fast. It sounds player driven
