Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
Agree 100 percent with your last point. All seems very player/agent driven (shouldn't be surprised given previous episode right before Big Bill stepped in). Really poor form for this to come out and unsettle the club further before a crucial final game, the leak being planted beforehand was obviously intentional as well. Great player and all that he is, Hoban as captain has shown zero leadership throughout this entire mess. Didn't acknowledge/face travelling fans at the end of the Galway and Inchicore fiascos. A lot of 'poor me' about that Sun piece I'm afraid - something tells me we're not getting the full picture of what's happening.Johnny Guitar wrote: ↑Sun Oct 29, 2023 2:55 pm I don't understand the ire from SOD at the journos. Essentially the rumours appeared to be true. Why not direct the anger at the source of the leaks? It's easy to blame journos but supporters need an appropriate level of independent journalist as its not healthy to just get clubs side only
Also the Hoban thing doesn't make sense. New owners or not they would still be on the hook to cover the remaining year of his contract. Even if another club came in and offered him for example €200 dfc would still be on the hook for the remainder. Why would hoban agree to a pay cut. Also the PFAI would be on this so fast. It sounds player driven

Sorry for more negativity but James Rogers said on the Pressbox podcast that Betregal are not sponsoring us next year, due in part to commitments on the DFC side not being met.
Apparently it was one of the most lucrative sponsorships in the league

Their deal is up anyway at the end of the year is it not? More needless shite being spouted.Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 3:14 pm Sorry for more negativity but James Rogers said on the Pressbox podcast that Betregal are not sponsoring us next year, due in part to commitments on the DFC side not being met.

Wasn’t it the case that the sponsorship was paid up front and so no money came in from it since Peak 6 left? It is up now anyway.

Really hope this comes to a close sooner than later and doesn’t drag on and on because I can’t be copin with the sniping and the rumour mill churning out utter lies. It’s clear that’s some of what’s been reported is true and that some of the other rumours doin the rounds are nonsense. I can see a load of players leavin if they get the opportunity and who could blame them. If this does go ahead the club will have changed hands 3 times in a half a dozen years. What I want as a fan is a plan and some stability

Dove are rumoured to be the new sponsor
It's thought they're going to leverage their busines contacts to get handsoap to Oriel gents .
They're going to run regular James Rogers Raffles to pay for a new striker , and the winner Will receive a lillywhite branded soap bar .
Very exciting
that's bound to attract players
Garts is thought to been appointed chief negotiator , on account of him being a strong centre half
Chris shields is believed to be hired to go help get the bird st1t cleaned from the pres box . HE is thought to be qualified ,due to his midfield performances
thank god we chased out those pesky Americans and their billions
( * it could be imperial leather , , various suppliers interested- early days )

Lads the only ones who know what's going on in Oriel are not sitting in Oriel. I suspect talks if any are taking place are taking place from the SS HQ up the road. Lets hope this all comes to an end shortly after the UCD game and that we soon know what is happening or not happening next season and going forward.

There is no doubt that betting companies are becoming less acceptable as sponsors. Would SS have taken on a betting company as kit sponsor if they had the choice? They were stuck with this if they wanted to buy the club. You can be sure that Peak 6 collecting all the money up front wasn't fully reflected when the deal was done.Martin Lawlor80 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 31, 2023 8:32 pmYea but if it was so lucrative should we not be trying to extend it ?

To answer your question, considering the financial situation of the club, in my opinion yes, if the betting company were offering the most money.oldfogey wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 8:42 amThere is no doubt that betting companies are becoming less acceptable as sponsors. Re: Official Takeover Thread 2023
I was out in town on Sun night and most I spoke seemed to think a takeover would go ahead and this week.
Usually a lot of this is just the usual 'pub talk' or 'dfc experts' but it seeded to be coming from a good few people in the know.
I hope they are right.
