O kane signed a new 2 year in October last year. I don't see any clubs paying a fee so he will be likely be with Dundalk next year. A good player but needs to be more consistent if he to ever play beyond LOI.

After all the noise of the last 2 weeks it’s got fierce quiet all of a sudden. No news, no rumours, what’s going on.

Shepperd won't be joining Shamrock Rovers anyway. They are bringing in Lee Steacy to compete with Leon Pohls. Both a downgrade from Mannus.

Re: 2024 | Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
Thinking exact same, plus almost all clubs in PD bar ourselves, Sligo and Cork City (UCD expected to go down) all ended on some sort of positivity. Add in the vibrancy of Galway and Waterford going up, this is a serious 10 team league next season.
And still, not a peep out of oriel, oh apart from reneging on a contract to allow (tell) a top striker to leave. The more you think of it, its just deplorable behaviour, not hiding from the obvious insult to PH, and damage it has done to the club attracting new players, where is the replacement coming from exactly?
Hope I'm very wrong, and investment / takeover happens soon, but I'm getting quite worried about next season already.

Yeah tame enough signings by Rovers but according to Mannus, Pohls is the "best in the league".
I think if this ownership dilemma isn't sorted quick it's going to be a painful off season for us.

Re: 2024 | Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
Plus why did the club take in Horgan on a 2.5 year deal in late July, only to be faced with the PH dilemma a few months later, yes its been suggested someone else paying Horgan wages, but it still doesn't add up.
As mentioned too many times on here and by likes of James R, if the issue was cash flow, come out and say it, then do something, anything on fund raising, golf classic, a house draw, a gala dinner, auctions, whatever it takes, just look at what Sligo generate annually this way, but of course we do nothing, not a thing, so how can there be sympathy?
Then consider we are dragged into lower mid table or worse, crowds drop by 1k, club might come out and say its the fans duty to support the club, agreed, but takes two to tango, they have not been doing what they needed to do. Surely the club should have moved heaven and earth to ensure funding was there to honour last year of PH contract, by whatever means it took, back to fundraising, and kept it quiet, but no DFC did the exact opposite and player treated disgracefully and the club is tarnished.
All we hear is silence.

If there is nothing to say, what are they supposed to say .... Here we have a press conference ... we have nothing to say, no comment on anything you want to know.
On a serious note, it looks like one of 3 things,
1. They are working on an investment or takeover and have been asked to keep shut until it is water tight (best case)
2. The leak has been sealed as the person speaking is getting their way and job is not at threat.
3. The rumour of the owners not speaking is true and as a result the shit show in Oriel is much worse than under Peak6 (worst case, much worse than Bill with millions to burn, as these lads will not walk and leave a few million in the bank nor will they have the cash to make mad signings in the off season)

Re: 2024 | Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
I think we've messed up twice here. Firstly, Hoban's contract should be honoured. If you offer someone a contract unless it suits all parties it should be honored. Secondly, if true that Hoban was told over the phone that he wasn't wanted this is pretty disgraceful way to treat any player never mind your captain and club legend.
If our budget is to be lower as expected next year we can't afford any passengers in the squad and have to squeeze every penny out of the budget to ensure we get value for money. I wonder is O'Donnell looking at Hoban's wages and thinking I could get two decent players in on that wage. Massive gamble as a lot of his signings/re-signings to date have been very questionable.

Think James Rogers made it clear on his pod that the newspaper article (Mirror if I am not mistaken) stating it was on the phone, was bullshit.Louth4sam wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:39 pm I think we've messed up twice here. Anyone else hear Hoban was asked to take a 20% wage cut? Could be bs but apparently it's how all this kicked off in the first place.

There is also an option 4 that things will remain as is and the owners continue into next season.Pepsi wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 3:26 pmIf there is nothing to say, what are they supposed to say .... Here we have a press conference ... we have nothing to say, no comment on anything you want to know.

We've seen first hand what can go wrong when the owners aren't right, then you look at Hull and Shels and Usher and Cork and see how things could have went worse for us than just plodding along as we seem to be doing now.

Re: 2024 | Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
If we were to get rid of anyone for me it would be Benson and mountney. Benson managed 90minutes 5 times. I'm sure he's on a decent wedge.
Of course being mates with O'Donnell is a strong predictor of getting a good contract.
I don't think we can trust O'Donnell with transfers. This is a guy who convinced the club to pay a fee for Robbie McCourt.

Re: 2024 | Rumours | Transfers | Contract Renewals
The most frustrating thing is that I think a lot of reasonable Dundalk fans have tempered their expectations a bit but now we don't even seem to be confident of keeping our in-contract players. There should be no doubt around someone like Archie Davies for example. Can't even do the bare minimum at this stage and build from the core we have tied down.

Sligo Rovers released 10 players, would any of them be worth picking up. Not big names, but Dundalk will likely have limited funds

When you consider where they finished in the table, I wouldn't like us to be signing many if any.Richie87 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 11, 2023 5:51 pm Sligo Rovers released 10 players, would any of them be worth picking up. Not big names, but Dundalk will likely have limited funds
