Pat Hoban October 2023
I thought the nadir was when Gannon left for rovers. Then we had to endure the humiliation of derry girls crowing mid season that they’d signed fats and then Duffy, who stayed on the bench for his last game for the club he’d had ( still has) the most success of his career because he didn’t want to play .
But this…wow
Let’s get this straight. The guy who has scored the most goals in our nearly 120 year existence is leaving the club for nothing because we can’t pay his wages?!
I travelled to Gortakeegan and United Park for home games in the First Division. That was the worst time I can remember. This , and what it bodes for the immediate future, is second to it

If the problem is his wages surely even a group of supporters could help to pay some of it. Where will we find his like again when he came on against Bohs he changed the game. Who in the club has told him he has to go?

Would Hoban be getting much more then Daryl Horgan? Horgan had offers from other clubs with bigger budgets before returning to Dundalk.

What makes you so sure of that?!
I wouldn't say I was the best manager in the business. But I was in the top one.

I don't think he's sure. It's more the positive energy Johnny spreads. Make love, not war as the hippie's would say.

Johnnybegood33, any chance of a few of what you are taking every day? If you bottled it, you could take over the club and make us great again!

Pepsi , in an ideal world , I would love to have taken over the club , me making all the decisions , just me total supremo . Recruit the best manager / coach & sign all the top players on the island of Ireland .
Get an owner with mega bucks , send Maxi to the FAI & negotiate backing for a new 8,000 seater stadium . Canvas support from the whole county & afar . Qualify for Europe every year & Bobs Your Uncle . Pepsi , I might even take yourself & Richie on as help.

I am in, however Maxi will have a few other projects apart from the FAI to sort out to ensure everyone is on board.Johnnybegood33 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 6:19 pm Pepsi , in an ideal world , I would love to have taken over the club , me making all the decisions , just me total supremo . Many many thanks Pat for all the wonderful memories & the exceptional way you have led Dundalk Fc . You are & will always be a legend in Co. Louth . You had a fantastic career . It sounds to me that it is not your decision to leave & that your hand was forced . Good luck Pat , you were defo the best header of a ball , maybe of all time in League of Ireland & we were lucky to have you . Good luck Pat & keep doing what you are good at , scoring fantastic goals , you bowed out well , with two at “ The Bowl “. 👍👍👏👏

Re: Pat Hoban October 2023
This must be one of the biggest ‘shooting ourselves in the foot’ moves ever.
The surprising thing is, everybody seems to be just accepting it! Photos on X with thank you Pat etc!! Like come on is nobody actual angry about this? Why can’t somebody in authority come out an explain this baffling decision? How are we going to replace our top scorer? Where are the goals coming from next season ?
I’m sick as a dog about this and so should everybody else be ffs

I agree Martin , nobody seems to know what is going on & the Club is not saying a word , it’s hard to understand . Supporters feel very let down .
