Gavin does a fantastic job but I don't envy his position, running all the club's social media channels plus editing video and interviewing is tough work, he could do with an assistant.

He's not a 36 game 90 min man anymore. He will score goals, but was he deserving of an improved contract?

Gav is more or less a one man show in this context, his work is not only social media, he has press conferences / jouralists to deal with, website articles, match day programmes .... match nights he is always present home and away and he is always available and very helpful if contacted, something I have experienced myself on a number of occasions.
I am lead to believe the only thing he has not done is move the family into this office .... so taking that into consideration .... he is doing an excellent job. Agree with the above ... the man could do with a bit more support in a full time capacity (and that is not running down the many volunteers that support him), if the club want to up their game on social media, I am sure the lad would not have an issue with an (sexy) assistant!

My comment was tongue in cheek ... no point doing a teaser video for a player nobody's heard of or a player you've already announced

Gavin is deadly

What's a new contract got to do with it? He was under contract and SOD didn't want him

Yeah I would have been tempted to offer an improved contract and get him signed up for 2025 but can understand O'Donnell's thinking and decision process of wanting to change things up.

The work he does outside of football is huge if we are selling ourselves as a community club and it will be badly missed. On the field he has never let us down.

Senan Mullen could be joining Torino according to James Rogers. The Italian Clubs are taking a lot of interest in Irish players since brexit.

Paddy Burns who was on trial at Dundalk now training at Cliftonville.

Hopefully we bring in another GK now with a view to competing for no1 and another LB with view to competing also. Wasn't convinced by Munro or Walker at all against Drogheda but hopefully just rusty rather than not at it

Mountney the club captain. Fairly bonkers, feel like Stevie is doubling down on his decision to give him a contract.
Has he played any minutes.in pre season yet?

I've seen teams do the whole 'club captain' thing and it's usually the most senior/or longest serving member of a squad, there'd also be a team captain as well in such a set up.

Boyle team captain you'd imagine .. Gartland was 'club captain' despite barely playing in 2021/2022 as an example of the above

Boyle would probably need to be more vocal if he was captain. Horgan wouldn't be a bad shout to be captain.

Hoping that we see a team with a bit of Identity from the start of the season, starting with just being tough to beat and with a bit of balance in our starting 11.

Under O'Donnell we have changed our 'Identity' as a team far too often, and strangely in the mid-season we see a complete slump where we go Kamikaze defending and totally stale going forward.

Kind of feel that the development (or lack) of for either Muller and Annesley will be the key bellwether of how our season will pan out. Both now had a full season of senior football under their belts and are not that young anymore. They need to kick on for both their own careers and for the club - not only for where we finish, but also for the success of the transfer policy under SOD/Garts.
