Dundalk vs Waterford 14.03.24 7.45

Post by dundalkfc1903 »

Apparently there is a league fixture tomorrow night.

An early must win game.
While O'Donnell waxes lyrical about 'identity' and performance levels, 3 points is the primary objective.
I would suggest that he finds a way this squad can win a few games and then tries to impose whatever identity he wants in the team. It might be the opposite of whats in the modern coaching manuals but if he doesnt find a way to eek out results immediately, he'll be coaching from his sofa very soon.

The only way I can see us winning is if we can nick the first goal.

Seen on Twitter Boyle, Walker, Shelvey and Dara Keane are doubtful for the match. Mayowa returns to the squad !!!

One goal in four games and that from a free.
I do hope to see a huge improvement tonight. The evidence so far suggests not.
I hope I'm wrong.
I have been a supporter of Dundalk for 70 years and - believe it or not - I have seen worse.

I'm not sure how to feel about tonight's game. Obviously I want us to win and play well but I think it would only paper over the cracks for another week or two. Because nothing so far this season has suggested that O'Donnell can get a decent tune out of this squad, a defeat tonight probably will see the end of the road for him. A fresh voice in the dressing room with fresh ideas could hopefully turn the season around before it gets too late.

Unfortunately that probably keeps O'Donnell in the job for another couple of weeks. No goals from open play in 5 games. Going nowhere under this management.

A definite penalty near the end . Dundalk played very well & didn’t give Waterford a sniff . Played well last week away to Pats & could have won . All this team needs is a few results & they can go on a run . Cmon the Town .

We played very well tonight. Couldn't fault the performance. We played some lovely football tonight. We just don't have a goalscorer. Strange decision to take our best player off tonight. Durrant had an excellent match.

Yes . Totally agree Niall , we need to unearth a big number 9 ., maybe across the water . We definitely have wingers & players that can get balls in to the box , but sadly no Pat Hoban . We got to get a Centre Forward.
