FAI Cup 2024

Post by seand »

With no European football on the horizon we'll have to make do with the glamour of a possible trip to Ballyfermot or Cobh. Second round draw is on June 6, matches on weekend of 19-20-21 July. These are the teams involved. I wouldn't mind a novel away game at a new ground, but a handy home tie would be good! It'll probably be Shels away. These are the 32 teams in the draw

Athlone Town
Ballyfermot United (Dublin)
Bohemians
Bray Wanderers
Carrigaline United (Cork)
Cobh Ramblers
Cobh Wanderers
Cockhill Celtic (Donegal)
Cork City
Derry City
Drogheda United
Dundalk
Finn Harps
Galway United
Gorey Rangers (Wexford)
Kerry
Kilbarrack United (Dublin)
Leeds (Cork)
Longford Town
Midleton (Cork)
Pike Rovers (Limerick)
Ringmahon Rangers (Cork)
St Patrick's Athletic
Shamrock Rovers
Shelbourne
Sligo Rovers
Treaty United
UCD
Waterford
Wayside Celtic (Dublin)
Wexford
Wilton United (Cork)

It has to be Kerry for the Ainscough Derby.

I would love Kerry away, and thinking this well before the BA connection.

Haven't done an away stay over in a good few years now, def since pre covid, might look at one for the cup.

Serious amount of Cork clubs too in this round, wouldn't mind one of those either.

A reminder that the draw for the 2nd round of the FAI Cup takes place at 12.30 today, live on the FAI Youtube channel.

Ties are weekend 19 - 21 July. As far as I am aware kick-off dates and times have to be set 7 days in advance. Games involving Shelbourne or Derry are likely to be played on Sunday as Conference 2nd leg is 18th. 3) Bohemians
4) Bray Wanderers
5) Carrigaline United
6) Cobh Ramblers

10) Derry City
11) Drogheda United
12) Dundalk
13) Finn Harps
14) Galway United
15) Gorey Rangers
16) Kerry FC
17) Kilbarrack United

Not the draw we'd want, but it'll be a great occasion. As it stands we're moving in the right direction, by mid-July hopefully we'll go there as firm favourites. Bohs-Rovers, Drogheda-Dundalk and Derry-Pats, it's going to be wide open for a handy run once we get past Drogs!

Its Drogs AWAY

No replays either I think, but look at this way, with Derry v Pats, its one of them obv out and Rovers could easily lose too, get a NL club in last 16 and then potentially 2 games away from the Aviva.

Well there's a maximum of 7 Premier teams in the last 16, in all likelihood 2-3 non-Premier sides in the quarters, it's wide open.

It could be a year where a surprise team wins the Cup.
